FB Recruiting 2025 DE Chase Linton decommits from Rutgers Football

Well, this took a turn.
That's NimbersSan SOP: drop some political drive-by b.s. on the free boards and run away assuming it will soon be deleted. He's got premium and knows he's been getting curb-stomped on the CE since his dopey chicomvirus and dumbed-down lib political talking points have been exposed.

RAPID REACTION - Merrimack

This game was absolutely in doubt. We were only up 8 points in the second half, with momentum against us. You don’t play Ogbole 19 minutes just because he needs work. This was the game to play small ball with Martini at the 5.

Also, not sure why PJ would be stock down. Pike should be stock down for playing Ogbole 19 minutes but Hayes only 14 minutes. AGAINST A ZONE DEFENSE.

Let that sink in.
And, the OTHER side of the "what if" coin is that if RU had shot better it would have been a total blow-out rather than just an easy win.

Had RU hit even 50% of their 2-point shots they would have had 4 more baskets, or 8 more points ... and the score would have been 82-63 - or even worse, because it might have snowballed. Overall (not just at the rim), in its prior 3 games, RU had shot 65-104 from 2-point range, 62.5%. Versus Merrimack, RU shot 18-43, 42%, from 2 point range.

Upon looking at those numbers, I think the offensive GAME PLAN was fine, the SHOTS taken were generally fine. Many shots just did not fall. If RU had shot 50% from 2, that was 3-4 more FG. If RU had shot 60% from 2, closer to what they had done the prior 3 games, that would have meant 7-8 additional made FG (so, 88-63).

Nc state vs Rutgers!

LOL..you went to the parents because one poster questioned the kids performance? Seems everyone else is pretty excited to see the kids progress. Kiddagger is one of the best supporters of the program and is a troll to other teams. You need to get some thicker skin my man. I have friends with kids on a few teams , the last thing I would do is talk to them about what negative message board posters say when they vast majority have been nothing but positive..even if they were all negative I would never do that . Whatare you trying to do? Piss them off?
Agree , I thought that was kind of a douchebag move. The kid got beat ,he probably got overwhelmed and couldn't recover... it happens. I don't think the criticism was harsh at all to go back to the parents. That creates a lot of tension and bad blood. It seems like we have our resident tattletale here. It seems like most people should block this person as they can be a real thorn in the program side. But on the flip side, sometimes Wrestlers need to hear a harsh criticism. It's actually from fans that really care. Dean Peterson's one of my favorite wrestlers and I hate seeing him lose, but let's be realistic...he's wrestling like a flapjack. The same thing was Soldano. The way that
kid wrestled in high school,I honestly thought he was gonna come in and be a top 5 All American as a freshman. I would have never thought that he was in the talking to losing his spot and being benched. Same thing with Turley. I thought after that, All American year he was going to be in contention for a top three finish. Now he's getting waffled again. I'm also not sold Poz, yet either. I feel like it's just gonna be a matter of time that he's gonna go back to his all ways again and just gets smoked by mid level wrestlers. We hired one of the top upper weight coaches in the country so what's the problem?

Playing Time

Problem right now there is no set rotation and therefore too many mouths to feed. How deep is Pike's rotation going to be when the team hits Vegas in 5 days? There are 200 minutes (40 x5) of playing time per game to divvy up. I don't believe you can rotate 10 players with each getting significant playing time and maintain cohesion. Assume going forward Bailey & Harper each get 32 minutes and Martini 30 minutes per game on average. Assume also Sommerville gets 25 minutes and Ogbole 10 minutes per game. That leaves 55 minutes per game to divide between Derkack, Hayes, Davis, Williams and Acuff. I would give Derkack 20 minutes, Hayes 18 minutes, Acuff 15 minutes, J Williams 10 minutes and JMike 8 minutes.

Zone Offense

I do not think RU's problem was its "zone offense", at least not the DESIGN. I think it is POSSIBLE, RU just had an off shooting night from 2, NOT that RU's offensive sets versus the zone were poor.

The offensive problem RU faced vs Merrimack is that RU MISSED more shots at the rim and in the short to medium mid-range than they had in the prior 3 games, when they got INSIDE the spaces in the zone created by Merrimack extending to cover the 3.

Had RU hit even 50% of their 2-point shots they would have had 4 more baskets, or 8 more points ... and the score would have been 82-63 - or even worse, because it might have snowballed. Would you as an opponents coach, leave PJ Hayes open, leave Martini open OR prefer to have Sommerville go one on one in the post......he literally fouled out a Merrimack player with 16 minutes left in the game.

You have to take what opponents provide you as options to score and take advantage.

I am pretty certain that I explained that there's a way to defend shooters who do not prove as offensive players that they can also score off the dribble. And if that player is NOT a plus defender, there will be games where Hayes and Martini are taken away.

The Merrimack game plan was to stay attached to shooters and make RU beat them off the dribble and in the post.....RU essentially did that, without much fanfare, especially when I'm fairly certain that if Sommerville plays 26 to 27 minutes, he finishes with 16 and 10 rebounds.
I agree with this post - strongly agree. I tried to point this out in my post, but Hawk is clearer in his explanation.

Overrated?

Need to work on hour help defense. When a player helps on defense, another needs to slide over to cover that player's man. Too often last night someone came to help but no one slid over to cover the vacated offensive player resulting in layups.
Help defense is weak, but that comes with being familiar with one another. The on-the-ball defense is okay. They made an effort to hit the boards at both ends and it showed. Truthfully, I see little difference in the current play of Rutgers compared to Iowa in past years. That hasn't stopped Iowa from being one of the top B1G teams with its moments in March Madness.

As Rutgers punches bowl bid, Greg Schiano earns bonus: Here’s how much

Year started out with a lot of promise/expectations .....but then injuries and a dip in performance hit and expectations were lowered to the extent that "Fire Schiano" became a thing.......then over the past several games there is renewed hope......this roller coaster is likely why some people are expressing that they now feel good about Schiano's performance.

As far as your list....
  1. Not sure what your "Greatest School in the country" comment has to do with Football prowess. Certainly Rutgers has not proven to be historically one of the Greatest Football Schools in the country.
  2. Similar to #1 - how does the location in Piscataway/NBR NJ apply to Football Prowess? If you look at historical football program success and fan interest - there is much greater impact by being in the South or Mid-West.
  3. Media Capital yes - but this is a double edged sword. When things are going well then great. NY Media tends to be agnostic when it comes to College Football. NJ Media tends to focus on the waste factor as it applies to RU & RU Football.
  4. Incorrect - according to USA Today - Schiano is 34th in coaching salaries. https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/football/coach
  5. Best I can tell by looking at various rankings - the OC Salary for Ciarrocca @ $1.4M is near the bottom of the Top 10. The DC Salary for Harasymiak @ $1.25M is not close to the Top 10 paid DCs which appears to be in the range of $1.8M - $2.4M. https://247sports.com/longformartic...head-of-2024-season-ranked-232264992/#2425272
  6. Development and Support Staff - I've not seen any information on this - but if you have it per your claim would be good to see
  7. and 8. are essentially the same point. I has been generally an easier schedule than in past seasons but should be noted that going by the previous BIG East schedule as a barometer is outdated given the additions. Schedule difficulty will likely sway from year to year going forward than previous.
1.Simply stating my love for the greatest school in the country.
2. NYC, Beaches, pork roll I mean what else needs to be said
3. It tends to be agnostic because of the coach and team performance and personality. Would NYC media be different with Prime?? Schiano os a dud !
4. That’s not including is escalation which is north of 7.5 mm which puts him around 14 on your info.
5. So KC is in the top 10! Coach H is according to your link somewhere between 10-15 (no where near the Bs crying of we don’t pay our coaches)
6. 8.65mm on development staff 1 in big ten
7. We have played teams with a combine losing record . No power houses and two of the west coast games at home.

*it’s ok we know Schiano is trash and buying time until he’s finally good forever

Not surprising he fell for that one too - he still believes the 2020 election was stolen and believes in countless other conspiracy theories. He'll respond to this with some more BS quotes and he'll put them in bold font, thinking that makes BS more convincing, lol.

You're wasting your time with igred. As comedian Ron White famously said "You can't fix stupid."
