Big Picture: We Have a Program Worth Being Proud Of

I just got done watching yesterdays replay as I had a scheduling conflict and couldnt watch most of the game yesterday. Well that game sucked and despite walking away empty from so many scoring opportunities, we still had the ball in our hands at the end of the game with an opportunity to try it.

5 years ago, when chris ash was here and we truly were the joke of college football, we wouldve killed to started a season 4-0 and then went into a hostile environment in nebraska and walked away losing by just one score.

I get that expectations change as time goes on. But when you take a step back and look at the big picture, it is remarkable and a nod of the cap to GS that hes got us to the point where we are going to be upset about potentially starting a season 6-1 rather than 7-0 as a member of the big ten.

Can Greg figure out Maryland?

The last few years have been really rough for us. I know they had a dominant QB, but it was also their WR's who were so wide open. They also had a rushing attack we couldn't stop. Is there reason to believe this year will be different? Greg even sounded overmatched in his press conference this week. If we lose the game, but play competitively, it would give me some confidence. Obviously we want to win. They don't even have a big crowd at their stadium. They just have a scheme that we have not figued out. Crossing routes from fast wide recievers and our defense isn't close. I would rather play press coverage and get beat deep, rather than getting killed in a soft zone. And unfortunately, we could never get to Tagliovoa because of their stout Oline.

Next Year - WR Room Exciting

I know there is still a LOT of football to play this season, and the 2 regular season games left are very important ... and that a couple of games do not tell the full story (especially against a poor pass defense team like Maryland) ...

BUT ... is anyone else excited about RU's WR room going forward to next year and beyond? Think about it, RU begins with a likely top 3 of Strong, Duff and Black (and yes, Black only gets a few snaps - but a HUGE world of potential, and great speed) ... not mention several great speed freshmen being redshirted ... and who knows if they add someone in the portal (RU does need a slot receiver, I think - none of those 3 are slot receivers ... they are all outside receivers).

It just feels like Strong, Duff and Black could end up being special as a group.

Maryland 37 Rutgers 0 long rant

Yeah, I went out there for our last visit in
2022

One of the most miserable experiences game wise I can remember

It was so bad that Maryland was calling timeouts when we had the ball with about 2 minutes to go in the first half , second down I think it was

They were so confident we could do squat,
they called time outs when we should have been preserving the clock to score ourselves

And yes, Maryland got the ball back and scored because they used those time outs

A couple of Maryland fans were giving my group, "oh, we have been there fellas, hang in there" etc
condescending bs

I could not stand it, I had ear buds in so I pretended I could not hear them, I was so pissed I didn’t want give them any satisfaction

Just posted this because it was certainly a huge reversal of fortune for sure
