...back when we had talent. Just look at the names on offense: Nova, Carroo, Coleman, James, Pratt, Burton, Kroft and a pretty good OL. And true frosh Grant returned his first kickoff for a TD. Still pissed we lost that game, 52-51, when we went for 2 in OT.

LOL. You are going to get some debate on Nova, but not from me. Remember some here taking him to task when in the post game interview he referred to the game as "fun."
Derek Carr surpassed his brother and is still playing on Sundays. 5 TDs in that game.

We were there.
Watching it now on TV for the first time. Wish it was HD.

Those Fresno 3 WR formations on the sideline with the pick blocks was run over and over. Had Knightmares on that .

Hell of a Goal line stand by the RU Defense . Fresno could not punch the ball in from the One Yard line.
Another stop on 3rd Down but the West Coast Refs call some BS unsportsmanlike call on Hamiltion.
Real BS. 1st Down Fresno.

That call on Hamilton was horrible. Basically lost us the game

Rutgers defense was gassed by the end of that game. Good chance they wouldn't keep up with the Fresno State offense during overtime so going for it all with a two point conversion attempt I really didn't have a problem. Under those circumstances, it was a good gamble.

Always thought the biggest play in that game was Grant fumbling the punt with about 7 minutes left in the 2Q and us up 20-7 and having all the momentum. Maybe we score there, maybe not, but I'm sure we don't give up 2 TDs before the half, like we did after this play (especially the second one scored as time ran out).

It really was. We started off with a group of 10 at the Olive Branch at kickoff (think it was 10:30 pm) and I think it was just me an @mildone left at the end of the game, which ended around 2:45 am, iirc. Brutal ending...
I think that was the most depressed I've ever been after an RU loss. However, the OB was a great place to watch that game that night, as it pretty much always is.

Louisville 2012 has this game beat. That game was the worst loss ever for me.

And 95 percent of you couldn't wait for us to get rid of nova
Listen, if you're going to compare midgets, yeah Nova was the tallest of the bunch, but the rest of FBS is playing with regular sized people. With Nova you never knew which team he was playing for.

I am not a Gary nova guy. I saw what he pulled late 2012 and 2013z
But the guy had a hell of a senior season. If he had proper coaching his whole ru career he would have been pretty good. He's much better than anyone we got now.

The QBs in the rest of the FBS got real coaching before their senior year. It took until then before RU hired an OC that actually taught him the position.

Agree that Louisville 2012 was worse than Fresno in 2013, but nothing holds a candle to WVU 2006, for me. Went to Morgantown with my then 12-year old son, 2 weeks after we celebrated that huge win over Ville, together, and then watched us lose that heartbreaking triple OT loss to the Mountaineers, featuring the blown fumble call and Townsend's drop in the endzone. Should've won that one and gone to a BCS bowl. I still get pissed about that one.

So his OCs were Captain Kirk the d-bag, Frank Cignetti who I thought was good, Ron Prince who was a massive failure as HC, but was reasonable as an OC, then Ralph Friedgen. Lack of continuity was the bigger problem than actual coaching talent.

Now some have agreed that experience does not equal success. But look at the experience of those coaches as opposed to our current offensive coordinator.

Yes

The 2nd most painful was Louisville 2012

Most

West va in 2006....which if we had won in 4OT would have gone done as the greatest Rutgers win ever over the 2006 Louisville game. Most painful moment as a RU sports fan right there with the St. John's loss in the sweet 16 in 1979

The 2006 wvu was not that painful for me. I was annoyed at the blunders we made and the official's errors. We beat ourselves more than anything else that night. I chalked that loss up to that . I truly believed we had arrived as a program and we would be back and make a BCS game the next year and year after that.
Louisville 2012 was a kick in the nuts . With flood running the show I knew we wouldn't get back to that point again for probably at least 8-10 years . That was our last shot to make a BCS game for years.

Nova was good. Nova and Teel are basically the same exact player. The QB's we have now don't even look like D-1 QB's. Nova definitely looked like he belonged.

Imagine if Schiano never left and we were in the B1G. We used to have multiple NFL players on our roster every year.

I sat there watching Davante Adams working out of that formation and thought "There is no way thais kid doesn't play on Sundays." He looked like such a physical mismatch against our defensive backs.
And Carr has to be one of the better college quarterbacks I have ever seen live.
