Wrestling 2025 NCAA Tourney thread

To be fair, there's a plethora of micro moments that could have changed the outcome of his tournament. These are the moments in life when we must learn to take ownership of our faults, instead of blaming others. Bottom line is that Stevo rode Dean the entire match and Dean had zero response to it.

The coaches probably saw something that we didn't see from the angle that we were all watching. If they lost (which is probably what they were thinking), then we wouldn't have had the ability to throw the brick when they gave Stevo 3 in the last 30 seconds. Dean was up at the time and had the momentum. His body language changed after that.

Losing Dean would certainly suck. But if it's any consolation, Dean did share an RU post after he re-tweeted (or whatever they call it now) that persons comment.

Also, these are the times we live in now with NIL. He may very well go, or it might be a powerplay move to get some money. That said, the going-rate for someone who hasn't AA'd can't be as high as someone who has, even though I think he's right there with most of the guys.
I’d be gutted if we lost Peterson.. but can’t blame him if the brick thing is true and it costed him… first we lose a team leader bc he quit on the team bc he couldn’t take it anymore and now maybe lose another team leader bc of coaching decision.. could only imagine the team morale if this happened…

I think it’s weird how much time you guys focus on the Aragona’s of the world and not the multiple AAs that have been here for a decade plus. Yeah we’ve had flops, but we’ve also had success stories. 20 years ago this program basically didn’t exist.

We’re literally generations behind the Penn States of the world. Thats no one’s fault.

I know this Leonard, I pay attention to which elite recruits work/dont work for other teams.. and I’m telling you all these elite recruits all have impressive resume… but it all mostly comes down to the mindset.. who’s ready to truly become a student of the game or who’s ready to just be w.e. We don’t have a great record when it comes to identifying the “right guys” when it comes to elite recruits.

You might have made a good point of us taking more risk on the elite recruits that no big schools want tho for the price.
Our record is fine and no worse than others. We've had to take more risks and settle on guys because we couldn't get our top choices.

Losing Dean would suck, especially when he is so close to becoming an AA at a minimum. Hopefully the coaches are able to reconcile whatever issues are outstanding.

I hope he stays, but for years I’ve heard stories about him being a diva which I’ll gladly share if he transfers out. Hopefully cooler heads prevail but I wouldn’t be shocked if he holds a grudge.

I literally named all the elite recruits we ever recruited and u said bad examples. Most of our AA have been through transfers or were dark horses no one expected to succeed.

Stop comparing us to Penn state and then blaming NIL is the reason.. we finished in the 30s… there’s about 20 more programs ahead of us that we have more resources then before we reach that mythical top 10.

Something doesn’t add up, just a month ago Bill said we made a comparable NIL offer to Bassett as Iowa. But we apparently don’t have NIL? If you are a top recruit and you have a chance to go train with James Green every day, or Kemerer, or Imar or make any national champ, world medalist etc, orrrrr potter, mytech. Where would you choose? Maybe we would have more NIL money contributed if our staff was better. And we knew the money would be used to generate more AAs. You think penn state had an influx of talent before Cael? Good coaches recruited good staffs which in turn brings good talent/recruits. This staff has done a good job, but if you are expecting more with what we have, …. Then you can hope and 1 hand and shit in the other and let’s see which one fills up faster

Dean is a good wrestler, but has no one to blame but himself for the loss.
Not getting out on the bottom will cost u a match anytime.
He has been at RU for 4 years, IMO he owes RU nothing.
Would love to have him back next year, but if he leaves, will root 4 him against everyone except RU

I never once mentioned NIL

So pretty much 24 all Americans that in all likelihood should have graduated already. I don’t blame any of the wrestlers whatsoever but the NCAA completely botched the COVID rules
At least it’s over now.. Mcnelly coulda won it this year if Cstar/Keckeisen wasn’t in the field.

125 and 133 were very boring and not getting the casual fans to continue watching. Should've hit all of them for stalling multiple times. Thankfully, 141 was entertaining.

Failed challenges need to be a stall

Touching the floor off the mat should be a stall

And reversals should be 3 points

I agree, reversals need to be worth more. If it was 2 takedown, 2 reversal it should now be 3 takedown, 3 reversal.
