Wrestling 2025 NCAA Tourney thread

Based on draws it could be 0-7 next round.
Wng ur so pessimistic lol. But nah Orine is 26 seed, and Titus is a 31st seed. Based on seeds, we are favored in 2 matches next round.

Turley has a winnable match against Braunagel who seems to come back down to earth from b10 and Peterson got a winnable match but got shafted. Figs should really be a 3+ seed .

Winning 3 matches is doable 4 would be a perfect sweep.. if we went 0-7 next round even SCNJ might put the poms poms away lol..

Next Match Ups:

125: Dean Peterson (1-0) vs. Richard Figueroa (Arizona State)
133: Dylan Shawver (0-1) vs. Kai Orine (NC State)
141: Joseph Olivieri (0-1) vs. Jordan Titus (West Virginia)
149: Andrew Clark (1-0) vs. Shayne Van Ness (Penn State)
174: Jackson Turley (0-1) vs. Dan Braunagel (Illinois)
184: Shane Cartagena-Walsh (1-0) vs. Carter Starocci (Penn State)
285: Yaraslau Slavikouski (1-0) vs. Gable Steveson (Minnesota)

This is going to be a very tough round going up 2 #1 seeds who are both multi-time NCs, another PSU wrestler, a 2x AA in Orine, and last years NC in Figueroa.

Turley has already beaten Braunagel this year, but who knows what Turley shows up tonight.

Olivieri should be favored over Titus so that's should be the highest/best chance for a win.
maybe everyone will be 1-1 after the evening session.

ESPNU had coverage for the first round. I didn't tune in as I have ESPN+. Next round looks like ESPN has coverage 7-10:30p. I don't know if they will run a multi-mat view or bounce around the different matches.

Yara-Slav should save his shoulder for wrestlebacks. I think most people here would agree that Peterson is capable of beating anyone. I won't be surprised whether he wins or loses. He needs to score and stay out of SV. He could win it all or fizzle out - up to him.

Championship round of 16 on the inside 4 mats (3,4,5,6) and consolations on the outside 4 mats (1,2,7,8).

Have to say just watched it again and that ref did a real good job of keeping Figueroa from illegally trying to bend Dean's finger back. He slapped his hand off like 2 or 3 times.
