I'd venture to say he was in full gassed mode in period one. I missed the first 7 points, but man..that was a disappointing finish to his Rutgers wrestling career.
He went for it in both matches... I have zero complaints about his tourny...
He had the 4 seed then unlucky to run into Branugal first match on the backside.. least he went for the big moves.. and yeah coulda had a better regular season, but did score the huge win for us to beat Illinois..

If you went to take a leak, you missed back up central, Slava getting banged with rapid fire stalls and getting DQ'd. Most likely didn't want to injure the shoulder and/or waste any energy trying to score a point or two against Steveson.
That's my guess. Rumor has it he tore his pec or shoulder at B1Gs so it makes sense. No need to try anything and risk further injury.
