Bryant head coach Jared Grasso taking a personal leave of absence. Hope he's ok.

Rutgers hosts Bryant Nov 12th.

Grasso is a real good HC. An up and comer - who presuming the LOA is not based on any negligent actions - should be primed for a better job shortly down the road.

Two seasons below .500, two seasons above .500 and one season at .500 in conference play at Bryant = a real good HC?

Very misinformed post. You’re better than this!

His 2 years below .500 were his first 2 years when he took over a very bad program at Bryant.

His last 3 years have been very good including a First 4 appearance - coinciding with a 16-2 conference record - and an ascension into a better conference - America East from the NEC.

When the ST John’s job opened up, his name was mentioned

He’s a good coach !

I like him. Sat close to Bryant bench vs NJIT to listen to him during game.

Played right before us. Was pretty cool seeing Knight and Thompson in the stands for a bit supporting Peter Kiss.

Allowed Peter Kiss to run up and down the court acting like a jerk. Real good head coaches don't allow that, sorry. He didn't act that way playing for Pike as I recall.

Remind me to mention your comments to Phil Jackson or to Chuck Daly based on how Dennis Rodman behaved on the court or to Steve Kerr based on how Draymond Green behaved in the court.

Sounds like he done f'ed up. Per Trilly:

"Multiple sources indicated Grasso’s leave of absence was a university decision. There is reportedly an ongoing investigation into inappropriate behavior by the Bryant head coach.

It’s unclear whether or not Grasso will return to the sidelines, but the sources we’ve spoken to could not rule out possible termination."

Nothing about my post was misinformed as you put it. He has 2 seasons below .500, 2 seasons above .500 season at .500 in conference play at Bryant.

All I did was look up his record. So, what I posted is accurate.

As for the context on why he had 2 seasons below 500, no, I didn't bother to look that up. So, if you had said I'm not fully informed I would agree with that.

Two of his last three seasons were very good but last year they were .500 in conference play. Lost four of their last five regular season games and got bounced in the first round of the American East tournament.

He did win a NEC championship so props to him for that.

Who mentioned his name for the St. John's job? Because it was pretty obvious it was Rick Pitino or bust for them and they were definitely going to get Slick Rick.

Those are pros. Peter Kiss was a kid who you're supposed to develop as a person, and not just use him to get a better job.

Kindly make the comparison:

Coach K / Laettner and Grayson Allen

Boeheim / Devendorf

Greg Gard / Brad Davison

John Thompson / Michael Graham

Chow - you ll note 3 of the 4 coaches above are hall of famers who let their players be asses and much worse than the actions of what Peter Kiss did.

I didn't say it doesn't work, just that it's not right, and I don't know about the others, but you can't compare the behaviors of Laettner and Davison to Kiss. Kiss was a total nut case. None of the players you mentioned did anything close to doing push-ups right after hitting a layup on the break.

Reading between the lines of what's public the odds "won't ever coach again" much shorter than "primed for better job shortly" IMO.

Wow, Michael Graham. Haven't seen or heard that name in almost 40 years. Georgetown doesn't win that Natty without Graham's performance in the final four.

Should have been ejected from that Syracuse game tho.

I started this thread because we play them in November and it seemed noteworthy. My bad!
IDC man
I was just kidding. It's just fine. Seriously. I'm not the forum police. I actually appreciate the information on such things. Educational.

The video is tough to watch. You can tell he is mid nervous breakdown. Feel bad for the wife.

These guys live in a bubble. not everyone knows college basketball coaches especially these no name coaches in the lower rankings of D1. Even in the town in which the programs reside. On this board we fancy ourselves as knowledgeable fans but couldnt pick steve pikiell out of a lineup pre-2016. These coaches think they can do no wrong and are above the law. He was

He was trying to tell the cop that he would keep the cop out of trouble and to stop being nervous....

His family needs to get him into an addiction facility or mental institution asap.

Wow, yeah that was a really nice & well-written message. Hope he finds some new/added happiness with his family, etc. From the looks of that October article, dude needs a break, maybe meds, support, etc.

I hope everybody gets the help they need/finds happiness. But the puzzle pieces don't fit here for me.

He's young enough to get the help he needs and might be able to return to the game in a capacity that won't be to stressful
