Call your shot now. Will we be IN or OUT

still think in, but maybe Dayton to play into tough game in Seattle vs Western opponent...
maybe catch unprepared opponent off-guard, get by an easier second round
Homecoming redemption for Ace in Atlanta Regionals..
As frustrated as I am now, I am still an optimist..
but time is running out..

Yeah!! Rainbows and unicorns!!!! Definitely in!!! Can't be otherwise.

The best lineup I've seen is Ace and Dylan along with jwill, jMike, dercak because of the ability to switch everything and pressure the ball. But we saw pierce take advantage at the end of the game and take dercak down low for an easy game winner. Maybe work on those rotations and help defense, double team even the way pierce was having his way. But more small ball because the bigs are a liability and getting out on the break is an advantage with Ace and Dylan. Maybe get grant up to speed, dortch...I'm gonna say they do all that and make the tourney..
In or Out. Simple.

We need to almost certainly go 13-7 in B10 play to get in. 12-8 and we would be sweating mightly at 19 wins.

sounds unlikely

If that’s your best lineup definitely out. Derkack imagines he is the first option and there is no rim protection.

We could get in with a 3-2 zone, and Jwill more on ball -- setting up shots for others. If anyone knows Pike -- please ask him to look into this. Season doesn't have to go down like this

we have 5 loses, and had a chance to win 4 of them in the last seconds of the game. It’s not like we’ve been getting consistently blown out. If things go right, we could go on a winning streak. Do I think it will happen? Well, I’ve been following RU for over 60 years, so NO.

We have lost games in the final possession. We can score. I believe the defensive adjustments will be made and the team will fight for each other. Pike will find the right combination in his rotations. Color me Scarlet …
You started another thread where you are recommending we play Grant. That doesn't sound like someone who's confident Pike will figure it out. That sounds like someone who thinks Pike needs help figuring it out.

No doubt that our defense could use a capable defender with Grant's size. A good defender with NO fingers would get 20 minutes of playing time with Pike. Our defense has been consistently suspect since SJU scrimmage and we are now thru 39% of the regular season. Not a great sign that Grant has rarely seen the court.

I said in, I was just explaining why I believe they will get in. Season hasn't been bad so far the team has looked good to me. The only loss surprising loss is Kennesaw. The other losses were to good teams with experienced star players.

You adjust the lineup based on the opponent. Switch out jMike for ogbole vs bigger teams... probably most of the big ten schedule but you can use the small lineup at certain times in the game and get that signature pike press going and steal some easy fast break baskets. Also fun to watch for me lol..

I am usually the glass half full guy and try to give the benefit of the doubt towards Rutgers sports, but based on the body of work to-date I have to say NO.

I hope to be able to eat a plate of crow come Selection Sunday!! 😜

It’s not so much the getting to 20 wins
We could have scheduled much differently to get to 20, even with a 10-10 record in the big ten..
First off, forget about the League tournament , not much weight there at all, as we found out 2 years ago..
12-8 in league would definitely get us in
Of course getting to 12 would be the challenge. Had we won one in Vegas, maybe 11-9.
It is really ridiculous that Princeton on a neutral court is a Quad 3.. we never should schedule those everything to lose scenarios. We would have been better off if Kentucky was still on schedule and we lost by 15 - from the metrics perspective anyway..
This is a Princeton team w 2 two-way draft type NBA players & experience , that in the tournament could knock off a team or two , like ivies often too. Very few wasted possessions..
Purdue will end up being Quad 1 if we can get a W at home. Always looks good on a resume, regardless of venue. Road win at Indiana & at least split home games versus UCLA/Wisconsin to get back on track.
Need to be able to put together consistent runs - like in St John’s & PennSt games, Eliminate easy baskets & putbacks by opponent (& get more of our own)

We’re going to have to get absolutely red hot to even make it close.

The resume is going to be really hard to look at even with a great conference record.

we would have to finish top 5 in the conference I think at this point.

It’s hard to see the path of it happening.

How do we get those wins though? No changes needed to offense or defense?

What makes you believe that will happen? We all WANT it to happen.

It's more than half of this board. Blind stupid optimism. Joe's just fine.

The 5 spot was low hanging fruit, and while an issue, the four spot miss was just as vital. We needed additional forward help just as much.
and we ALL thought ZM was the answer to that. Pike's a guard with a guard staff. Shocking on that miss.

Not we all. I only liked his pick up in a back up roll. Not shocked at all, he was, at best, Princeton's 4th best player who only took wide open shots and averaged like a rebound every 10 minutes played, while having their worst defensive rating.

OK. I don't dig that deep on posters or players. If that was your POV you're more in the know than me. But I don't think he was coming here as the back up..unless there's something else in play.
I should know better than read the hype on this site. He's not a strong low and he's can't defend the high. So disappointing. he looks like he should be able to clear the paint and kick some a$$.

I said Grant because he’s really not been given the chance BECAUSE of Martini that’s why. I’m confident staff will figure it out and I’m of the opinion Grant is still an option and maybe they’ve it that way and give him a nice run against Columbia.

Yeah, the hype/justifications for every pick up get out of control. I will say, Martini is also smaller than I thought. He's prob 6'6..

Here’s the reality. We have a weird team. Can hang with anyone (Alabama, A&M, etc.) but also play down to anyone’s level too (Kennesaw, Princeton).

Despite the flaws and overall negative outlook - my gut says OSU performance was the fluke - exception not the rule - in the sense that we’ve competed (and mostly led throughout) in every other game only to fall apart down the stretch.

This isn’t like in the pre-Pike / early Pike era where the schedule has a stack of games where we should expect to get blown out by 20+. So yeah, technically that means there’s a chance. The problem is we’ve shown no ability so far to break open a game and take command. We’re 3-4 in games decided by 5 points or less which is statistically in line with what you’d expect in close games (50/50 outcome).

Right now, I think there’s a legitimate chance this team misses the Big Ten Tournament, I would be very surprised if they made the NIT and the NCAA is a pipe dream, the roster/coaching limitations are too much to overcome
