Can Flood Recruit Yes better then Schiano by the numbers

Cmon, GS would be blowing the roof off with B10 conference to recruit with.

We would be top 25 classes with some big time wow gets amongst the class. No question in my mind.
GS = Rutgers Football = rock star = $2.3 million salary = commitment to winning = NFL head coach
KF = right guy in the right place at the right time = $850k salary = 0 track record = Rutgers is cheap

Nonsense - Flood has the B1G to sell - for years all GS could sell was promises. Flood is not a closer - he gets the highly recruited guys only rarely and that won't get it done. Look at all the NJ players he's lost, let alone the out of staters. He has yet to recruit a QB out of HS with a top 75 offer (let alone a top 25 offer). Enough said.
Hey, out of curiosity, how did things work out with the top 75 quarterback that Greg Schiano landed at Rutgers?

Yeah, but that guy left. And that guy would be the longest tenured coach in the FBS right now, and working off a 14 year head coaching pedigree. You can't compare the two.

Flood has had the Big Ten to use in recruiting. Schiano didn't. You can't argue that. Flood is a better day game coach but if you don't have the horses there is no comparison.

Remember that during the Schiano years our defense was relentless. It was our offense which Flood was in charge of that had problems. If anything, Schiano should be criticized for keeping Flood around as long as he did. There's a reason why Schiano took everyone but Flood down to Tampa with him.
Schiano turned the corner in recruiting with 2 good years in 2011 and 2012. If he had stayed we'd have won 3 or 4 more games in 2013 and our recruiting in the Big Ten would be in the top half of the league or better. I'd take him back in a heartbeat.

These guys say hi.

You're clueless. Cristobal walked away after accepting the offer because his wife was a Miami socialite who didn't want to leave Miami.

Don't forget how long Mario lasted after returning to his old job .
Think Cristobal going back to FIU was a lucky break for RU ;)

In America, you are generally paid in accordance with the value you bring to an organization. It's been that way for over 200 years. Schiano was paid $2.3 million. He was replaced by Flood who was paid $850k. I rest my case.

Yet the "rich" coach never won a conf title...never even shared a conf title.

That "poor" coach was the only one to bring even a share of a Big East Title to RU.

Its laughable that higher pay either means or guarantees higher success...as there are scores of examples of "rich" coaches that failed...while many at the bottom tier of pay have been successful.

What GS did for RU was greater than winning a conference title. He built the program from the depths of the abyss. And Flood won a 4-way tie for conf title with all of GS' players. He should have won the title outright but his poor coaching decisions that first year cost us dearly. Had we brought in an experienced new coach who was worth the same $2.3 million Schiano was making, we would have won the Big East title outright easily. Going on the cheap with Flood cost Rutgers a BCS bowl bid that year and the pinnacle for us of a major achievement in our football history. It will now be years before we are in that same position again. I don't expect to see it in my lifetime. Major screw up due to a dumb move by Pernetti.

Maybe, maybe not...zero guarantees to any football team/coaching success....because IF it would have been guaranteed that another $2.3 Million Coach (would there been any $$ left to hire good assistance?), RU would have spent/made that hire...because after all, it would have been "guaranteed" and so easily to win conf title and BCS Bowl Auto-Bid.

Nothing is guaranteed but Pernetti made the wrong call. The extra dollars (which we were already paying GS and with no buy-out obligation) would have paid off handsomely for the legacy of Rutgers football. We would have had a BCS bowl as a notch on our belt. That's just my opinion and its not hindsight. I was so upset when Flood was named HC and paid only $850k. It wasn't so much the choice of Flood that sent me spinning but the salary we were now paying our HC. That sent a clear message to everyone including recruits that Rutgers was not serious about playing big time college football. We are now paying for that dearly on the field and in recruiting.

it had nothing to do with his wife. And I was simply trying to inform you on a situation.

Why call me clueless?

It had everything to do with his wife, and the fact that you don't realize it means that you're clueless.

You went out and got the photos, and you've got to tip your hat to commitment like that.
I had finished my work for the day, wasn't going to start a new project with 15 minutes to go, and needed to be here to cover the phones so...it seemed like a good a way as any to waste a few minutes.
