I listened to Chris Carlin on SXM College Sports yesterday when he hosted CFB Playbook with Gino Torretta. Not sure what happened to Jack Arute, who usually hosts this show. Chris did a pretty good job. Apparently he's doing it 3 days a week.
Well, compared to Jack Arute's voice his is not so bad.Yay. Another opportunity to hear the dulcet tones of Carlin's voice.

Carlin has a unique voice that creates excitement for a game. His skills on air though, have a way to go. Too many "uh's" and awkward dead air spaces, but he can get way better. Arute had had enough of the filling of time until the fall. Impossible to repeat the same stuff day after day. BTW how great is Neuheisel in the morning compared to the other numbskull.Carlin sounds like he's a graduate of the Adam Schein school of broadcasting. And that's not a good thing.

Another reason why I am baffled when people say they want Carlin replaced as the radio voice, dude does a good job and is pro-RU everywhere. Great guy too.
Chris Carlin is awesome on Rutgers radio not sure why two knucklehead posters feel the need to bash him here no less that whole other thread...
Chris has a very unique sound which i think sounds great and really enjoy it...besides that the guy loves Rutgers athletics and has been a huge asset to us...no reason to rip one of ur own...
Over the years in big east we have had just god awful announcers including beth that woman...Carlin and Ray were a joy to listen to...
On a side note the Blue Jays tv has Buck Martinez who is similiar to Carlin with a unique voice and a bit of a homer and was just great to listen to...well this season they brought in Dan Schulman of espn sunday night baseball and the broadcast isnt as good anymore...
So be careful what u wish for...
And for someone like screw to defend steve politi but constantly bash carlin must have some screws loose
He's on 3 days a week, so there are many shows to come.Did he mention RU on the show?
The benefits of his reach seriously outweigh a minor upgrade that people will only hear during the rare time you're not in front of a tv or in attendance at a Rutgers gameto each his own, his voice and inflections are painful to listen to..especially for basketball. We can do better
