Clemson coach Dabo Swinney agreed to a new 10-year, $115 million contract Thursday, the largest college football coaching contract by total compensation.

The new, enhanced contract runs through the 2031 football season and averages $11.5 million over 10 years. In 2022, Swinney is set to earn $10.5 million, just behind Alabama coach Nick Saban, who recently got a raise and extension that will pay him $10.7 million this season.

Over the length of his contract, which runs through 2030, Saban will make an average of $11.7 million per year. In July, Georgia coach Kirby Smart signed a 10-year, $112.5 million contract that averages $11.2 million per year.

Great coach and appears to be a really good guy. He earned it. And yes, Rutgers may need to double Schiano's and significantly raise the other coach's salaries to keep up. Want to play with the big dogs?

Smart because it’s always been the rumor that when Saban retired they’d come hard after Dabo. If they do, they will have to pay LOTS!

If we have any success this year (5 or 6 wins), I would expect Greg to get a 1 year extension with a salary that starts with a 5 .

I think that Greg's going to have to hire more big name assistants (and pay them accordingly). That's the only way he is going to build and sustain success.

If anything, his salary (locked in for 8 years) begins to look more and more like a "deal" with each passing day.

I wonder if Dabo has a Bama clause in his new contract?
“Dabo Swinney has just received a new contract that runs through 2031. He’ll make $10.5 million in 2022 and will incrementally work his way up to $12.5 million at the end of the contract. His buyout for the Alabama job remains 1.5 times higher than the buyout for any other school.

Although I wish he'd leave tomorrow, he was never going anywhere
He has it made at Clemson and he knows it
Plus him and his family love it there

Hilarious when people who have a problem with NIL but not this.
Bingo
The amateurism aspect of college fb / bb has been dead for awhile
It's very simple in regard to coaches, support staff and players... pay up or get left in the dust

Funny when people try to compare an 18 year old out of HS to a professional who has 30 years of coaching experience and demonstrated that he’s elite as his craft.

Not sure what you mean.
So 18 year old's shouldn't get paid?
Dam, that sucks for entry level jobs.
At what age should you start getting paid?

Someone should tell baseball, hockey, basketball, soccer that these youngsters shouldn't get paid until they have 30 years experience.

Coaches have certainly never been amateurs.

And neither have the athletes.
As the "anti-NIL" people keep saying - "they are already getting paid with a scholarship, room, board, meals, gear, apparel, etc."

Once schools started paying players to attend (scholarship et. al.) then the athletes weren't amateurs either.
Just because you (and others) keep saying the word "amateurs" doesn't actually make it true.

Sure they should get paid but not like the CEO. Haha. Most 18 year olds with no experience get paid minimum wage. Seems about right. But if you supplement it with excellent health care, a free education now worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, food, clothing, etc., that’s a damn good deal.
