EO #3 all-time fav?

Good list. My one nit-pick of your list is Hodgson because he is a transfer. My Mount Rushmore of favorites are 4 year warriors:

5. Daryl Smith
4. Kobaslovsky (sp?)
3. Eugene
2. Mack
1. Billett

Granted you put those 5 out as a starting lineup, and you get a train wreck!

I also like Craig Carter

Not on a top 5 best team, but he was a fan favorite

Used to love when he came into the Rack Pack student section behind the team bench after wins.

It really sucks they don’t sit there any longer

Hodgson was a “4 year warrior.”

I still think he wound up at UPenn for a couple of days,

Hodgson actually spent a semester at Indiana, did not enjoy being redshirted (or "The General" in general), so he transferred.

I don't remember UPenn, but it's possible. He never would have signed "scholarship papers", so could have stopped there in between.

0----
he very well could have done both.... I know when we were after him, it was between us and another northeastern school, probably Upenn...the story was that he was on that campus and for some reason, changed his mind, and I guess it was not too late to do so, somehow....

this would have had to have happened after the
semester at Indiana, of course.....but I do remember this happening

anyway, top five lists are extremely tough, and I would need considerable time to weigh all I remember......but throwing out an early, and probably needing to be a later revised list,

1) Jammin James Bailey......for those who never saw him play, you would have loved
him..... a little known fact is that he is THE all time
dunk leader in college basketball history....doing it all in
three years

2) Phil, the thrill, Sellers:......the primary driving force to getting to the final four.
the leader of the team, and a bull on the court

3) John Battle.......it gets tough here, but agree with the poster above.....he came out
of no where, after a mediocre freshman year

4) Roy Hinson.......similar to James as far as controlling games....not the slam dunk
specialist as he was, but a great center for us

5) Q Douby..............when he was on, he was really on.....had some really classic
games versus Syracuse, tortured them....but we often fell short

The confusion comes from the fact that he just about started classes elsewhere (UPenn?)
Changed his mind and somehow was allowed to come here

He got on campus at Indiana and was told he'd redshirt, so he immediately transferred out to Suffolk County Community College. I think I remember reading that he then took a ton of credits to get his associate's degree in the fall/spring/summer, then entered Rutgers without losing a year of eligibility.

I like how Eugene has moved down to the post again. I feel like early in the year he wanted to be more of a wing player and shoot 3s. His identity and the team offensive identity was off and they paid the price with some bad losses. I’d still like him to challenge his guy and shoot the 3 if he is given a ton of room, but he’s better in the post for us

The 2004 NIT run is when I started as a fan, so obviously much less history here. But my top 5 would be some combination of Douby, Omoruyi, Mack, Baker, and N'diaye.

Very good chance Harper cracks this list by 2022.

just to show that I am not totally nuts, here is an article from that time, describing how U Penn was recruiting him after leaving Indiana

I am now sure he spent a couple of days
there when classes started and assumed a commit

PS: I am open to someone supplanting the beloved Billet at #1 (Hint-hint: win me/us some NCAA tournament games).

Yeah, I found a few articles at the time that it was down to us and UPenn for his final commitment. Didn't see anything that ever said he committed there, though, but online articles from 1995 are sparse.

Favorite players is tough....

In chronological order, starting from when I hit campus in '96... I'd probably go with Hodgson, Salvi, Kent, Douby, and Omoruyi

Hinson was one of the best shot blockers I have ever seen.
---
yes Hinson was probably the better defensive player, compared to J Bailey..... Bailey was no
slouch

one of my favorite memories of Bailey was watching him dismantle a ranked and favored
Cincy team at the garden.....

they were never in the game....down 20 early, finished that way

Hinson played at the same time as John Pinone, who had won all american awards for
Nova, I think it was.....I made a bet with a drug rep that Hinson would have a better
pro career, and won that bet....I don't think Pinone was in the pros for any length of time

I remember your bet with guy about Pinone. I remember Nova played us when Hinson and Pinone were frosh.,Pinone killed him. 4 years later in an All-star game, Hinson destroyed him in that game. I was a senior in high school when Hinson was a frosh at RU.

Think it’s official now with this latest display after yet another serious injury.

5) Salvi
4) Kent
3) Eug
2) Hodgson
1) Billet[/QUOTE

Loved Salvi and Kent there Senior year!
Remember it so well...
Salvo with the long socks and Kent was a warrior down low but couldn’t hit a foul shot, lol.
We used to chant “ You can do it” regarding the foul shot! Lots of fun those years!!!

NJDOVES - The Kent FTs were unparalleled torture, but he still cracks the list regardless. That ND game on V-day back in the day cemented his position.

No Tom Savage or Rick Dadika? Savage may have peaked as a sophomore but had an incredible 88-89 season at 20 ppg and 47.4% from '3'.

Not sure of my all time list, but a guy simply being "tough" doesn't mean much to me without the corresponding production. That said, Eugene is winning me over. He is taking that next step we need him to. He is starting to remind me of our own Draymon Green. You want that guy on your team.

Mine would include both of those guys. And maybe not the most talented but Mike Jones was a really good kid and hit some big shots. Very hard to come up with five.

1) Quincy Douby
2) Mike Williams
3) Eugene Omoruyi
4) Rashod Kent
5) ___________ TBD but leaving open for Geo or one of our current freshman.

I’m not old enough for some of the other guys to make my list.

That NIT run was also a favorite memory for my wife and I

First the home game wins and then the garden. Winning a game at the garden, running downstairs to the ticket office to buy tickets for the next game. The bars around the garden filled with RU fans, Drinking and chanting loudly. Lots of fun, close exciting wins, right up to the final

Now that you kids have posted yours, I'll give mine:
1. Bob Lloyd
2. Phil Sellers
3. tie - James Bailey and Roy Hinson
4. tie - Eddie Jordan and Mike Dabney
5. tie - Douby and John Battle

Of course, there are some guys that you just have to love. Salvi, Hamady, Kent (especially when we played Notre Dame), Gettys, Eugene.

Right – – he was able to do this because some of his high school advanced placement courses counted towards his associates degree — his associates degree was a combination of Indiana credits, junior college credits and advanced placement credits.

He actually registered at both Penn and RU before enrolling here.

I didn't start following until I came on campus in '09, so my list may be laughable.

In no particular order

Hamady
Mack
Sanders
Williams
Gene

Really liked Biruta when he was here although he transferred out. Played tough

The thread didn’t say top five warriors but a lot of these guys mentioned are definitely warriors and my top five happen to be my favorite players and I’d also say warriors so here goes:
Easy #1 Phil “the thrill” Sellers
#2 Jammin’ James Bailey
#3 Q Dog Quincy Douby
#4 Franklins own and I guy I played against many times Roy Hinson
#5 3 way Tie between Rashod Kent, John Battle, and Keith Hughes.

My list and yours almost the same. I put James first but thought about Phil being there

I got to see more of James playing.
