Fire Schiano!!!

Oklahoma and Florida State show how hard it is to win in college football. Throw in Oklahoma State who is 0-5 in conference.
Actually 0-6 in conference and for the first time in the Gundy era. They were in the B12 title game last year. This year in last while the team (ASU) that beat them yesterday who was picked for last in the B12 preseason is bowl eligible in year 2 of Dillingham.

As I say, it’s all year to year. It can give hope entering a new year but also you can’t think the good you saw the previous year will carry over to the next.

The defensive line with Konga and Toure not playing has hurt a lot. Could Konga have made a difference in UCLA game? Thanks for correction, they are 0-6.

When will good come to RU? Asking for some friends.

That does not fit my definition of "everyone".
We had some fans here too with lofty predictions, but while many saw 8 wins as a ceiling, people's memories are short, and they fed into the hype. Looked at UCLA as soft. They were and are improving. RU is regressing, but will they be able to turn the tide? That's up to the coaches and players.

Outside of OSU and Oregon anyone can win/lose in this conference. Had our D played like it had first 5 games, we beat UCLA and USC comes down to the wire.

If we can get back to that, we go to a bowl game. If not, we don't. That is how I see it.

GS will get a mulligan if we miss a bowl because of injuries and history here and overall missing Prez and AD. I am OK with that.

There are more factors In Indiana's success than just NIL. Coaching has a lot to do with it.
Absolutely this. Upgraded HC and just important upgrades in Staff making huge improvements at downtrodden programs like Indiana, Vandy, UNLV, Sara, etc. Would hope Greg has the ability to make changes to right the ship. Not optimistic based on what we have recently seen and the lack of Player depth returning next season. Not to mention the much more difficult schedule.

And getting back to Graber academic support was a joke. In 1992 the Brian Sheridan class had 7 out of 21 players flunk out within a year.
Discipline was a joke. Not all his players went to class. You’re not going to be able to succeed in the classroom if your players don’t go to class.

He was not head coach material, because you have to be able to keep tabs on your players. Schiano has a system to do that.

That would NEVER happen under Schiano.

Fans are not wrong about Franklin. My wife and SIL, both PSU grads, want Franklin gone. Even they see he will never get them to the next level.

Outside of McSorley and Saquon, seems like PSU wastes all their offensive talent.

They can want him gone but he’s not going anywhere just like many other coaches because of all the ludicrous contracts that have been given out. 56M still owed to him according to USA Today database.

Plus despite not getting to the absolute top of the sport, they’ll likely be making playoffs multiple times with CFP expansion. I think that should be good enough for awhile. IIRC Franklin would’ve made like 5 or so playoffs if they were 12 teams back from 2014.

PSU has very high standards. We have the opposite, such low expectations there is no amount of losing will get Schiano fired. A competent AD wouldn’t have hired him in the first place, extended him for nothing results, or let him coach after this year.

What coach?

And you still think we should fire him?

I mean you don’t generally fire a coach after 2 wins..I think we should have never hired him and we’d be in a better spot now with another coach.

Great last two weeks..that’s for sure.

Yeah, OK. This ain't Ohio State.

I mean we can at least be Colorado, Indiana or Illinois.

Not trying to be negative after 2 nice wins…but I wasn’t the one who restored this thread.

Yes, I still think we’d be in a better position right now with another coach.

When we beat Illinois next week we will both be 7-4.

That would be nice. For sure.

As I’ve been saying 5 years…hope greg proves me wrong,

I’m not going to declare him the right hire just cause we beat unranked Minnesota and Maryland in back to back weeks. This should be expected in year 5.

I don’t really understand what 2015-2019 has to do with this season…

But ok.
You are dense and just have a negative viewpoint. Nothing is good enough for you because you will always see a shinier toy somewhere else.

I don't give a shit about Prime or a flash in the pan somewhere else. How many fans were wetting their pants over Leipold?. He came crashing back to earth in the shitty Big 12 .

You’re the one who for whatever reason re-ignited this thread.

Fine, im dense. Fine, I expect a bit more than some other fans. Especially in a season we’re gonna have the most talent we’ll probably have for a while.

Again, I’m happy tonight. Nice win, But the what could have been without the few stinkers the last few weeks..is tough.

Give me one flash in the pan top 10 season and a playoff berth..I’d take that for one year over 6-6, 7-5 seasons year in and year out,

Once again, I hope Greg gets us there..

No one with more than a half of a brain cares what you think

Oh please. You guys change which coach we’d be so much better off with depending on which guy is having a good season. It’s ridiculous. L The program has been steadily improving each year. To deny that would just be ridiculous. Just the idea that we bounced back the way we did despite the injuries has to be attributable to the coaches. They deserve a lot of credit. Is it possible that we could’ve hired someone else and they would’ve turned out to be a home run? I mean sure - maybe 1 out 7 or 8 coaches at best fall into that category when hired for a complete rebuild. The odds that whoever was hired would’ve come in and done better than Greg at Rutgers is extremely low. Your pointing to the handful of teams having good 2024 seasons. I promise you there are 10 times more teams who hired someone who isn’t working out.

It also wss a season where they had the most injuries they will hopefully have for a while

Why do you say “you guys” to start this post??

I’m one person with my own opinion and can’t speak for anyone else.

I was asked to apologize for my opinion..but I will not. My opinion isn’t going to change after two wins against two non ranked teams.

I would have hoped we’d be in a better spot in year 5 than we are now, again…I’m happy we won. I’m happy we’re going to a bowl. But I’d wish at year 5 we’d be past that point as a program .

I don't know man. That's a lot of friggin injuries to overcome the likes I've never seen before. If we're dealing the same hand instead of some fantasy lineup, a helluva lot more coaches would have failed than succeeded with what's left. Sure, teams have injuries, but these guys for the most part are all starters and pretty important cogs missing from the machine.

There’s a whole bunch of you who were all over Leipold until he fell to 2-6. You’ll be back on how great he is too if they beat BYU today. It’s just whoever the flavor of the minute is compared to Greg. But the thing is - there are a lot more coaches who don’t work out - like Ash and even many of those flavors have off seasons too or go places that don’t turn out to be a fit so they do well one place but fail in another. It is a ridiculous notion to suggest it to be a given that most alternative choices would’ve come in and done better than where we are at with Greg.
