Basketball GAMEDAY THREAD: Rutgers Hoops vs. Kennesaw State

If the team is lucky, they will figure it out in this game and eke out a win. But this wake-up call has been brewing since the 2nd half of the exhibition game against St. John’s.

Some people here were laughing when I said there are serious energy and focus issues with the team, that even making the tournament is no sure thing.

Ain’t so funny now, eh?

Tons of talent, but also lots of work to do to realize all the potential.
A win? Lol we’re lucky if we lose by single digits

2 players doesnt make a team...the rest of the team is subpar compared to every Pike team but his first
I disagree. I think he has very good players. What he doesn't have and to me never has is the ability to grab guys and tell them what they ARE not to do. Always way too many guys taking crappy shots and out of their skills set and lane. Wasted f in possessions.

After football yesterday and basketball today I’m not giving another cent to this institution. Only organization better at wasting money is the federal government

in some ways this is the least team we have all been attached to, a bunch of one and dones and guys that will never play here 4 years...might be easier to take a disappointing year
He doesn't win this year it's over for him. Recruits and their handlers will look at what he did with two potential Top 5 NBA draft picks and laugh at him when he walks in the door. There will be whispers in the stands when he walks in a gym. Anyone funding NIL this year from outside Rutgers will funnel that money and players to other teams.

Talent is there coaching is not! Pike only has proven he knows one style of basketball. Under recruited kids who have to play hard and his Defense or they won’t play. Pike had ZERO clue on how to coach top tier talent

What a weekend! This weekend encapsulates why it’s so difficult to buy in to Rutgers media hype. Time to touch some grass fellas it’s scary scenes

Something that ive seen all season is that this team can’t be playing street ball. They have to be playing to WIN.

Its why we allowed a SJU comeback, why we allowed 81 pts to be scored by Monmouth, etc.

I imagine Kennesaw must have agreed to send their football team and basketball team to play us for next couple years for us to go down there for this game

10 points in the paint tells you all you need to know. Playing scared and bad. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think we were the conference USA team

Pike is not a good coach. This is not a surprise.

Harper and Bailey look disengaged too. Not good

How can Pike have them so woefully unprepared for this game? You knew KS would turn it into a track meet and launch endless 3’s. Thats how they play. But didn’t expect them to be pushed around and look so soft. KS is dominating

We play 4 guys who should never see the court at the D 1 level

Conditioning of the freshman is a big surprise. Perhaps shouldnt be with the resting on D in AAU and all star games.

This is shaping up to be potential most embarrassing weekend in Rutgers sports, the football debacle yesterday and now an ass kicking from Kennesaw

KState has too big a cushion. We will come back but it wont be enough. Hope I’m wrong but they are not in sync at all. The kids are just not used to this pressure. Good learning experience though. Better now than later

For real. Does anyone think someone like Rick Pitino would screw something like this up. Basketball is the one sport where we can say “f it, you’re gone” and it not be a big deal. Absolutely no reason for bball to not be a force with NIL.
