I think most were kidding themselves if they thought this would be a good rebounding or defensive team. It’s not in the makeup of the roster.
The concern imo is the offense.
Only Steve Pikiell can have a basketball team with two top 5 NBA picks, 2 career 40% 3 point shooters, and a top 10 national scorer on the roster and run an offense that looks this bad.

2 nba top 5 picks were non factors in the first half...wrap your head around that
Well … we are playing a National powerhouse that beat Abilene Christian by 6 at home, and came up a little short losing to California Baptist by 4 on the road.
Two lottery picks and down to a college I never heard of before. I know they are freshmen, first road game of the season, yada yada. But it’s not like a Notre Dame or Alabama. Might lose by 40 if they play like this.
At least we can lower expectations early. Just another year of hope … and another year of disappointment by yet another sport.

Better this game than out in Vegas. Now we need to see how the players respond to the situation.
I think it’s a safe bet Pike’s been beating the drum on keeping focused, on playing a full 40 minutes, on playing D and getting rebounds. The team, especially the younger players, surely heard it, but didn’t really understand it.
Guessing they’re starting to understand it now. This half is a gift to Pike in how he can use it to get belief and understanding from the players. Now we’ll see how the team responds.
Wait till Bailey and Harper sit out toward the end of the season to avoid injury

I think it’s way too early to reach such conclusions. The team needed to wake up. Young players listen, but don’t always understand. Failure’s a great teacher.
Hopefully the team proves to be good students.
Dallas playing tough at Commandos. Down 0-3 but they're really outplaying Wash so far, but suffered a couple unforced errors in the red zone as usual (dropped pass, errant snap over qb), and had one FG blocked, another clanked off goal post.

We’re laughably small and lack physicality. Huge miss calculation by Pike. He’s only been coaching in the B1G for 8-9 years. No way for him to know lol. Sigh

We had 4 piss poor performances at home, it should have been drilled into them they couldn’t compete against a good team

Because the players are running the team. Pickel asked Somerville permission to bring in a transfer center and Somerville said no.
He has intangibles and savvy that would abuse us within an offense that plays as a TEAM

Beginnings of first couple games we did. But have seen this trend before. Then the players just do their thing and he lets them do it.

and its inexcusable, if Pike cannot get control over the inmates then its not going to be a pretty watch this season
Kennesaw has some shooters and their big kid #3 is badly outplaying our post players. In the meantime the Knights are missing every shot imaginable. Inside and out. If this keeps up I might need to leave before the game is over. KSU has a nice little home court with a lively crowd. Like a smaller Jersey Mike's.
