I think he’d prefer SHU first, but there’s really not much hope they can ever be competitive with NIL or revenue.
I don’t see a guy who won national titles and could have been the Lakers head coach, mentally lowering himself to take a huge step down and coach us.
Who says we're too good for those two?? Maybe we'd like a winner who represents the school and not just their own ego and is a risk to embarrass the institution.
That's really a dumb comment. So all that matters is winning and the school shouldn't consider the character of who they hire and the risks associated with the person. I'm guessing you'd hire Joe Paterno even after knowing what happened.
Pitino was involved in past scandal, had no choice and had to lower himself to the Iona level. Scandal hardly exists in the age of NIL, everything goes now and it’s all on the up and up. Hurley is not going to be involved in some massive scandal at UConn that causes home to come crawling on his hands and knees to Rutgers.

that’s an insane leap… there are levels to how bad a scandal can be. I would NOT hire Chris Beard, but I would hire Will Wade, for example.
Hurley is just obnoxious and outspoken. Like most of our fans - and people from Jersey in general. I don’t see the issue.

He could have gone on the speaking tour, wrote a few books, done a bunch of camps, got a cush job w/ESPN, then when enough time elapsed, got back into coaching
Nobody said he's going to be involved in any scandals
But he's pissing a lot of people off w/his actions
Again, when he's winning (2 natties), it gets passed over
When he's not, and keeps it up, that's when it becomes problematic

Yeah, it wasn’t too long ago that Pitino was untouchable and St. John’s found a way to make peace with his past. No doubt that Mike Repole helped SJU navigate the path to forgiveness for Rick.
It means a guy that cant coach but is squeaky clean and upholds university values. A lot of posters would not want a great coach here if he was not a "Rutgers man".
I don't know many, if any, coaches that are squeaky clean and win

I don’t know if the 8 yrs was true (it could be), but I know for a fact that Hurley coaching here was closer than a lot realize. He was working on putting together a staff when talks fell through. I know someone who was in talks to join his staff here.
Eh, I think we were used to force Nova’s hand with Lappas in that case, just as we were used by Penders to get an extension at Texas. Going way back, the real miss may have been with Dick Vitale. He could’ve been our version of Al McGuire
He was just offered the Lakers job this offseason. He is never coming here and will likely never coach another college team after he leaves UConn.

Maybe b/c I'm in sales and we're always getting pushed, or being that my other school (FSU) has always been playing from behind but never let that get in the way of dominating and kicking ass, I seriously don't understand the mindset of a lot of posters
I don't know why I'm even remotely surprised as it goes part and parcel with the outright refusal of many on here to donate to NIL knowing it's the lifeblood of the program, yet will post incessantly and come to bitch & moan when the programs sucks nuts

People need to forget what we were and start thinking about what we’re going to be. Our future is incredibly bright. There are no overnight successes and we’ve managed to moved from a “you don’t belong” laughingstock to a middle of the pack B1G athletic program. We finished 11th, not 18th.
