It’s our fault Paul’s leaving

Paul reached his potential at Rutgers. Last year was a microcosm of his career here. Up and Down, inconsistent, slow, bit of a headcase/crybaby, slow footed defender. Turnovers at the worst time.

Good luck to him. I won’t miss him. Need to turn the page and get quicker.

I feel he will go to Notre Dame. Just a hunch. He would NOT start at a Kentucky or other top school. IMO
 
Maybe he’s transferring to get a degree from higher ranked program. For example, an MBA from Northwestern would be top notch. That said, wouldn’t be surprised if NIL related.

did our fans get on Paul wayyyyyyyy too much last year...IMHO, yes.

does that absolve him leaving on June 9th...which sucks, but will suck 1000x worse if he goes to a B1G competitor? F*** NO!

as much as I feel Paul was maligned by many of the fanbase, if he left because of that he would be too thinned skinned to be counted on to play without pouting this year .
If an unfriendly fanbase was just part of the reason , but other facters counted more, I can go with that
 
I doubt some losers with nothing else to do so they are here all day everyday bashing him made him leave. It’s funny to think of how important some of you think this silly board is. It’s entertaining for 15 20 min daily for most. It doesn’t matter in anything real life. He is leaving for the money and that’s what college basketball is. No one cares what an old man with a fake name is Saying about you.

Paul might have felt this years style didn't fit his style of play and rather than be on the bench at crunch time he needed to find a program that played the style best suited for his game,

Every fanbase has their share of unhappy fans who spew hate on bulletin boards. We are not the only fanbase. Therefore it is not their fault but they should seek help or find new hobbies that bring them happiness. I can assure them that gambling never brings happiness (I don’t gamble but I see it in so many who do) and neither does golf (that one I know firsthand).

Good luck to Paul. He won all 4 years here. He gave us his all and played hurt all last year. Time for someone new t step up.

The boards or social should play NO roll in his departure. The reality is the pressure will only be exponentially higher and the fan feedback worse at a big time program. I wish him the best but he knew and was told he was not playing PG this year and he still views himself as a high level one. Good luck!

Paul is the softest dude to ever come out of Bayonne. Id respect him more if he was leaving for NIL, not that the fans were “mean to me”.

I keep hearing about him having to delete his social media and ppl blaming the boards. Wrong!!!!! Don’t throw punches at players or trying to trip them and none of that hate comes your way.

actually its the ones that are upset he's leaving want to think its because he can't take board criticism.
Probably they are the same ones that posted they didn't want him back
and now whining because he's in portal.
 
These guys are pro athletes now, not “kids”. if these guys didn’t play college ball they’d be pro in europe or in a developmental league and the top players would be in the association straight out of HS getting stacks.

Just because other fans suck to doesn’t give anyone the excuse to be an ass. Paul busted his butt for Rutgers and the fans and many of those fans treated him like crap.

Ok... same thing would happen at literally every other P6 program in the country. There are fans like that in every fanbase and Rutgers is nowhere near as bad as most

There's no world where every fan gives nothing but positivity and support. It doesn't exist

Paul needs to put on his big boy pants and ignore the knucklehead fans

Unfortunately RU has some fans that have no class and low sports IQ and ruin it for so many others . We see it on these forums every day .

I never like when someone explains bad behavior by pointing to others with bad behavior . Just because some else is @n ass doesn’t mean it is ok for us to be asses .

Everything that happens is related to your actions good or bad.
Paul being god fearing more than likely attributes his journey to a higher power.
Not some all powerful Human on a fan board
 
I think Pike smashing his phone was because of Paul to be honest. This thread is a little over the top, but not 100% off base surely.
 
Also, after Paul tried to trip Trace Jackson Davis my opnion changed .. TJD is my most hated player in the B1G, and Indiana our fiercest rival in basketball (with maybe Purdue), but that was crossing the line. Like the jerk Duke guy. Something doesn’t sit right with me there. And it was embarrassing for the program and Pike who is all about doing it the right way

He badly needs to change scenery. Whether it was the pressure of expectations or something else, he was really frustrated down the stretch. Best of luck and thank you for helping to get this team out of the constant dumpster fire.

I personally think it’s a total douchebag move to troll athletes on their own Instagram - particularly those a generation older than they are. trolling an athlete on their own Instagram is somewhat of an invasion on their turf. At least that’s how I see it. But I can’t imagine that our fans are any different than any other fanbase

However - IMHO - all bets are off on a message board. The purpose of the message board is to comment and critique. If an athlete goes on a message board they should EXPECT to read criticism. If they get upset by what they read on a message board then that is 100% on them. They CHOSE to expose themselves to it.
 
Wait, did Paul really leave because he felt the fans were too hard on him? If so, this is absolutely for the best for all involved.
