I actually met him a few years ago. He had just written another very good story about Eric and seemed very positive about the future of Rutgers Football and had nothing but good things to say about Coach Flood. Seemed like a nice guy, almost shy, which you wouldn't expect from a reporter. He did not seem like a yellow journalist in his past writings. Not sure why he seems intent on bringing down the program and Coach Flood in recent weeks.

Are you kidding? The intent is not to bring down the program, this story has run on every major network and is big now, isn't that what a journalist wants

Where's the link to purchase a Keith Sargeant?

I mean, not that anyone would actually want to, but... surely he's no more worthless than a $9.00 sweatshirt from Kohl's.

He was a very good content provider for the Scarlet Scuttlebutt blog. That being said, I'm sure his new sports editor is giving him angles to work on RU stories.

Boss needs clicks to stay in business. All you need to know.

When the molehill is finally unveiled , they still get paid for the clicks on their site and he says " I just reported the info I got"

They are trolls that get paid for it. We need the don't feed the trolls sign. No more clicks.

This is why it really bothers me when people say there is no harm in linking the articles. It is so painfully obvious what they are doing. They know Rutgers has a dedicated fan base that cares deeply about the school, and that sports fans in general care about athletics scandals. They know that they need more clicks on their websites. So they find angles to create controversy surrounding Rutgers, knowing the news will be widely consumed.

They drag Rutgers' good name through the mud for personal gain. Plain and simple.

And there are more than enough enablers here who have their own agenda.

Has Sergeant gotten back from his overnight stay at Subway? ...has our young lothario been at the post practice pressers with Kyle the past two days?...

Daffy Duck had nothing on this N.J. com tool...

Its so sad what Journalism has become. It used to be news. Even Rutgers Football, it we lose, say it and criticize us. Nobody has any issue with that.

Now we have all these media companies that own news, internet, tv outlets. Competition is fierce. Clicks and looks are the only way to make cash.

No sensationalism means no Money!!!!!!

Take a guy like Sargeant that didn't use to be a hack. But unfortunately now works for Manahan who hates RU.

1. Sargeant takes his marching orders from Manahan, who tells him that he must stir it up and sensationalize the news.

2. Sargeant acts like a good soldier and takes the bait.

3. A Shite Storm develops and the story gets National Legs. Manahan gives Duggan and Sargeant a raise.

4. Rutgers once again is a PR disaster telling Flood not to say anything while leaking everything they can.

5. The story drags on and Sargeant starts dreaming about the Woodward and Burnstein accolades he will be getting and if he pushes hard enough, the Pulitzer. The sky is the limit for his career now.

6. Sargeant and Duggan start getting interviews on radio stations and TV shows and become heros for uncovering the heinous acts of an out of control coach.

7. Sargeant and Duggan are on 60 minutes explaining how much they have helped society. Job offers pour in from TMZ, E News tonight, and Dancing with the Stars.

Once a news story can personally benefit the reporter. It is no longer news.

I have been checking the bios on the reporters for NJ.com, from Sargeant to Tom Moran, I think six in all and all write for our state paper, and so far not one went to our state university.

I watch the nightly news and have not seen this anywhere. O I did see a one minute clip on NJ12 but that's about it. What major networks are you talking about because I have seen nothing on 2,4,5,7. I did see the football dance competition on channel 7 is this what you are referring to?
