Kyle Flood was on XMRadio with Bethlehem, PA's Billy Packer's son, Mark. They accepted a phone-in from a Rutgers fan. Coach Flood said not to make too much of the first game loss. UDub is loaded and traveling cross country and then asking Rutgers players to compete with new offensive and defensive schemes against a top notch team is a brutal situation. He also likes Tennessee in their Bristol, TN showdown with Va Tech. Tennessee was humbled by their undeserved win against Appalachian State. The Vols will be focused and ready to go against Va Tech. According to Kyle, Tennessee wins. Not too surprisingly, when asked about current Rutgers recruiting, he declined any knowledge of it. Congenial Mark Packer did not chide Flood for his obvious sidestep of the question and his recruiting shortcomings that were a large part of his demise.

'Flood the dud '. Coined by the Great plum street when he was hired and supposedly saved this great recruiting class .

I was tempted to call in and ask him if there is any situation where he would pull his starting qb but after last season I already knew the answer.

i laughed......

of course, he might have said: "well, i was thinking of putting in Rutgers' fifth best QB, but decided Chris gave us the bets chance to win...." :flushed:

Flood's Tennessee comments were on-the-mark. Quick question - Is Mater Dei Prep head coach Dino Mangiero a Kyle Flood compadre?

Flood was a man who compromised his principles, assuming he had some, to try to keep a kid/kids eligible who had zero business being in school or playing football for said school.

He's a nice guy, not necessarily a good guy.
