Let the Seton Hall smack talk begin

We also serve pizza to the many RU non-grads in the Big house
Wait, so your SHU degree got you a job as a Prison Guard? Admirable work, but 4 years of college to be a Prison Guard? Really? You really shot for the stars with that career choice or could it be that's all an SHU degree is worth. A menial job worth $45K a year.

7/27/17 SHUathlete wrote in regards to their OOC schedule. " Local cupcakes tune up games, FDU, Wagner, St. Peter's, Rutgers". So according to them we are just a cupcake.

7/27/17 VegasPJ wrote "Note to SHUathlete, a cupcake being equated to RU is insulting to cupcakes".

Ok ok. I apologize. Should have said Twinkies, but then i'd have been insulting Hostess. Can't win. :sunglasses:

I'd much rather beat Purdue, Wisconsin, or Maryland than Seton Hall.
Big Ten wins are important but so is the SHU game. They're an in-state rival for basketball talent and compete for center stage in NJ basketball. Also , rivalries are so important for stirring up a fan base and media attention. I think it's great that we're on the upswing and SHU is so good this year. Both schools can thank Pat Hobbs....Go Rutgers!!!

More evidence of how superior the RU campus is...

Sigma Chi used Xanax to drug members of a Rutgers sorority

Members of the Sigma Chi fraternity at Rutgers University allegedly used Xanax to drug members of a sorority during a mixer at the start of the Fall Semester, according to documents obtained through an Open Public Records Act request.
And this has exactly what to do with campus? Sigma chi has always been a bunch of dweebs at RU anyway, only reason they didnt get shut down sooner is because they were a buncha mary's who didnt even haze pledges

Better a bus than needing bullet proof windows on your car.

And a bit odd to say that Rutgers somehow has less of a campus because the campus is so big that it needs its own bus system... that SHU degree seems to be working out great.

UMich which has a beautiful campus uses lots of buses for students to get around.

Wow, this thread is sooooo tame compared to the old days before Rivals and Scout boards were around. The smack talk would get serious and threatening, and more clever. The hate spewed by good ole Chickenbox, CabanaMan (I think those were their handles) amongst many others, along with many thoughtful posts by Seton75 were epic. We had our own hateful smackers too (RC78 was one, RIP), though most of their handles escape me (getting old). This smack talk thread seems too forced, not the old fashioned real hatred that existed back then. I'll admit I was a hater, now I don't hate it when SHU has a good season and I don't sulk if they beat us.

Only if "esteemed smurfs" are defined as Rutgers football players.[/QUOT If you live in glass houses..... Lets face it, every single school in the nation has former players who have done things we are not proud of.

whether shoe beats us or not, and they should win...they are still seton frockin hall...no one cares, no one knows where they are, they are ranked 15th and there is no juice nationally, they still are not relevant...live under Nova's and Johnnies shadow...they will yet again find a way to lose in NCAA first round to a higher seeded team, and those that went to the school paid all that money to go there...lol

Better not lose to little ol' RU lol...

I'm hoping the RU student section keeps it clean tomorrow.

No need for profanity.

Hope they make funny signs that are witty.

Think they will be able to fill their section by tip-off?
nah, let em get down and dirty.

There is this SHU guy that works for me (yes the world is right the SH guy works for the RU guy). He is an OK employee (a bit slower than most of my staff) but he can be a bit of a SHead at times, especially about the SHU inferiority complex (you know the constant Final Four talk, the our campus is great, our academics are better ... basically all the crazy talk). We kinda like the little guy so to cheer him up, and to let him know a diploma from SHU does have SOME value, we let him hang it from his rear view mirror. So now he is allowed to park in the blue spaces.

When was the last time RU was relevant in bball or football? At least SH gets to the NCAAs more than once every 3 or 4 decades. Oh, how does it feel to live under SH's shadow in bball the last few decades! Pretty darn good I would think. :boxing:

Don’t understand this thinking. I’d much rather beat the crap out of SOCC, AND win against Purdue, Wisconsin and Maryland. Sure, conference games are important, but every game is it’s own separate competition.

RU is probably the only college that has a prep school named after it and that prep school refuses to have anything to do with Its namesake. Sad. :flush:

Seton Hall has one sport, let us be honest. 7000 people show up for Rutgers wrestling now.

You missed my point. Sure I want to beat Seton Hall too. I want to win them all. But in the order of preference Seton Hall is behind every Big Ten team.

You can honestly say that for you it is more enjoyable and important to beat Illinois than defeat a top 15 team, with all the NJ and NY media in attendance?
A conference win is more important than beating anybody OOC

Even though they’ve more or less dominated us I still think this rivalry means more to them because they see us as the bad big liberal state university that gets all the attention. Frankly, it doesn’t mean much to me anymore. We’re in the Big Ten not the A-10 or Big East anymore. Beats playing FDU and CCNY but to me it’s just one good game.
Upon further review...

I didn't hear much smack talk amongst the crowd.

I actually asked a RU fan why he was wearing a blue NY Rangers shirt instead of something Rutgers while in the heart of New Jersey.
He had a white Rutgers hat.

I don't recall seeing any "Let the MSU or Minny smack talk begin" threads here so I assume this game means something to some RU fans.
F&%k yeah it means something. Within a year or two we'll be looking at them in the rear view mirror forever. Going forward what kid would rather live in South Orange and play at the Prudential Center than live on RU's campus and play in front of the crowd we had today. No contest!
