Let's go METS 2016 thread ......Just get in and anything can happen!

Funny seeing Tampa winning three games. Wish A-Rod could play the next two games.
I wish he would get released. Hoping the Yanks prove the rumors true and dump him at the end of the season. The money paid to him will be the same, but we don't need him blocking playing time for younger guys.

Thank God we won and Yanks swept.

Friggin Boone Logan....always hated that guy.
It's a damn shame about those dumps by the Yanks. I was looking forward to Miller and Chapman vs. the Mets. Oh well.
It sure looks like "Wait 'til next year" for both NY teams.

Sorry no Chapman or Miller!! And Tampa whose payroll is probably egual to Tex and A-Rod combined.

Glad to have Tex gone soon, but I can't complain about him too much. He helped win us a WS title and was very good for the first half of the contract before injuries got to him.

Can't believe the haul the Yankees got for friggin RELIEVERS! ALL the credit goes to cashman. I know the lucroy deal fell apart for CLE, but they're obviously going for it big time. They might regret giving up Frazier and co. if they don't win it all. Cleveland! Lol

See that Yankees jerks? ^^ that's called being an objective baseball fan. It was kbee that started the whole mets Yankees "Yankees wins co,pared to the mets thing" btw how's that lookin now. The Yankees season is done. If they magically beat the mets 3-1 in the series(doubtful) their season is still done. Kbee makes a real nice pomp pomp waving cheerleader though, that crap was hilarious hahahaha

I find it amazing that the only people who brings up the Yankees on this thread are Yankee fans. Meanwhile the only people who bring up the Mets on the main Yankee threads are Yankee fans. Mets fans got our own problems to worry about the Yankees.

FTR BTW, Yankees did a great job getting 8 good to potentially great prospects for the two relievers as well as getting Tyler Clippard. Definitely did more than the Mets and that .226 hitter from Texas (REALLY SANDY????? WOW!!!!)

A sign of hope?

New York was hitting .166 with two outs and runners in scoring position entering the game. All six of their runs on Sunday came with two outs, which included three run-scoring hits from Brandon Nimmo, De Aza and Walker.

If the Yanks magically beat the mets 3-1 in the series.....they'll have exactly the same record as the mets. Then whose season is done ?

The answer is neither. It's just that the Yanks are acting like it.

Those two trades will make the Yanks a powerhouse again in 3 seasons.

They will sweep the Flushings this week too.

Well, I admire your optimism.
But both teams are hovering around .500...and they're playing four games....so I'm guessing 2 wins for each team. Neither team is going anywhere...so does it really matter ?

Will the Mets get Jay Bruce?

At this point, with Wright, Duda, Reyes, and Cabrera out with injuries, they should be looking for an infielder with a bat, if one is available. Zach Cozart from the Reds or Jonathan Villar from Milwaukee?

In this era of the double wild card, all it takes is to be in it to win it. Which is why I was shocked to see the Yanks make the Miller deal. It may work out in the long term. But I cannot envision George throwing in the towel in July.

Funniest Tweets on the trade rumors:
"Trout, Harper, and Cespedes, they would still find a way to start Grandy. Nothing he can do to be taken out of the lineup."

Something else to the effect of: Mets will acquire Jay Bruce and he will not bat cleanup, because that's what Collins does.

Seems Mets are playing for this year.

NY Post now reporting Bruce for Nimmo and two unnamed lower level prospects. UPDATE: ESPN now reporting that the trade is done, pending physicals. (Which, as we know from last year, means the trade isn't done.) They are saying "a number" of prospects, including Nimmo. I guess three is a number.

Buster Olney reporting Mets out of it for Lucroy. He made be headed for Texas.

Official announcement not yet made, but SNY reporting it's Herrera and low minor prospect Max Wotell. I hate this with all my capacity to hate.

As one talking head just stated, they let Murphy walk because they had Herrera waiting in the wings, and now they trade him for Jay freakin' Bruce?

Latest word from SNY - Jonathan Niese coming back to the Mets! Probably an upgrade over Verrett.

He's leading the league in rbis, is one of the better hitters with RISP, and is 29 and under control next year. That's more than I'd expect to get for our fourth best prospect. He helps as much for this year as next, when Ces leaves for $100 million.
We also have Rivera who right now is a better player, but doesn't have Dilson's high ceiling.

I think the Brewers played the Mets for the Gomez fiasco.

Now we have the second coming of Jeremy Burnitz. He may lead the NL in RBI but won't keep it up since no Mets get on base. what a disaster.

Very fair point. Bruce provides a hedge against Cespedes opting out. If Cespedes doesn't opt out then they can let Bruce go.

I do not see them keeping both Cespedes and Bruce next year, unless they can move Granderson. That is one really bad defensive outfield.

The reason why they didn't sign murphy was because of herrera. And now HES GONE!!!! WTF???
Alderson was just asked that question. His response (paraphrased): We like Dilson, but two things have changed. 1) We now have Reyes who is under control for next year. 2) Gavin Cecchini now has another year of experience and we like how he is progressing.

I don't think we got played. We could never match Texas' offer of Lewis Brinson and Luis Ortiz.

Disaster seems a bit of an overreaction. We have a slim chance of making the playoffs. I expected another middle reliever but not Lecroy.

Bruce deal ironed out. Mets reported to be working on Lucroy for d'Arnaud and others.

Indians just designated Juan Uribe for assignment to make room for Miller and Guyer. Mets should get Uribe!
Alderson was just asked about Uribe. He responded something like - we always watch the waiver wire, so we'll see.

Mets activate Reynolds. Did not DL Cabrera yet. They did not have to make a corresponding roster move yet because they shipped Bastardo out, and Niese is not here yet.

They may be able to get something for Granderson in the offseason. I'd keep him because he can play right and center. He'd be a useful backup and/or platoon with Legs.

Defensively any outfield with Granderson and Bruce is terrible.

Howie Rose just asked Collins if Bruce would see any time at first base. His response was no.
