Let's go METS 2016 thread ......Just get in and anything can happen!

I wish they would have saved a few runs for the next seven games! The Phils really can't be pissed about the Mets piling it on since it looked like back up on the last few innings.

Gsellman has turned into a legitimate prospect.
I don't think that there is anything wrong with piling it on in baseball as long as you play straight up, i.e., no stealing bases or bunting for base hits.

You are right about Gsellman.

It's hard to believe the second half the Giants have had. At one point, not sure, they had the first or second best record in all of baseball. Also, shocked at how KC has played this year. I thought that team had so much hitting throughout that lineup, that losing streaks would be hard to come by. Shows how hard it is to win year after year, in this day and age. Makes what the Mets have been able to do, with so many obstacles, remarkable.

Wow, as fate would have it,a buddy of mine just invited me to his companies corporate box at Yankee Stadium to see Ortiz last game this Thursday,lol.. Going with the 3 other coaches that helped our kids win the Cal Ripken 12 year old State Championship back in 2000. Mixed feelings, but should be a blast busting some chops since they are all Yankee fans and they know I'm a big time Mets fan. Maybe it's a trap.LOL.

Wear a Mookie Wilson jersey and everyone will be happy?

I'm a big Cards & Giants fans this week
THere you go. Another one. Why can't you just stay out of this thread? What point does your post serve other than to be an agitator? I don't cheer against the Yankees, except when they play the Mets. But it seems now that your team's season is over, you enjoy shared misery because you hate to see even a small modicum of success from a team that does not even play in the American League. So rather than be a good "Proud NJ Sports Fan," you choose to be a childish jerk and try to ruin the joy of the fans of the other team in town. Reeks of bitterness, jealousy and childishness. Maybe you would be happier if you just turned your head and moved on to another sport?

Sorry but I'm not a New Yorker and have no reason to cheer on the Mets.

Again, all your posts are well said, and dead on.

But you don't need to be in this thread cheering against them. Do you like expending negative energy and talking trash about a team that you don't care about? You can live your life any way you want, but I could think of 1000 better things to do than go to another team's message board or thread and start hurling insults. Except if you are younger than 13.

Mets hitting and pitching like they don't want to look like inconsiderate assholes for trying to win. It is a horrible thing that happened. I got choked up watching the Marlins players and shed a tear during the take my out to the ballgame tribute, but we have to win. Hit a homerun and run the bases with your head down , don't dance and do the helmet thing. Walk in the dugout and shake your teammates hand.

I know this sounds harsh , crush me if you want too. But the umpire called the first two pitches a ball as Gordon was doing a tribute to Jose.

Watching the Mets/Marlins game. That made me cry... Seriously. Tough to watch.

I cant even get mad that Gordon hit a homer. Was still crying from pregame. No "Squish The Fish" stuff. Just a good game for both teams for Jose Fernandez.

But the Mets are in a no win situation and gotta get over this because they still have a playoff race to worry about.

Hindsight 20/20 . Should've taken today off and lost Thursdays day off. Tonight is a night you needed a harvey Scherzer like guy...."I feel terrible for that team, the sports world is watching ,I'm going to throw a one hitter"

Dar NO cant reach second base ? For the 100th time , how the hell did he get traded for two cy youngs??
He's a good looking guy?
dontknow.gif

Should I feel guilty for entertaining the thought that just maybe, Bartolo decided to groove some of those 84 MPH fastballs?

I think the Mets and their fans have many mixed emotions about tonight. I may have gone too far myself , ahh see that I just apologized for wanting to win. No win tonight , finally I will admit if Jose was pitching we were going to struggle and looking at a loss tonght anyway. Great Kid, loved his family , the game and loved to win ! Thank you Reds !

Collins wanted to win. Interview shows he was trying to be respectful and bit his tongue a few times. In the Espn New York clip I got the feeling he wanted to say ......"what happened was terrible , my players showed great class and I proud of them", buuuut....."$hit man we are trying the playoffs and my damn job depends on it! I hope they shake this off and come ready to play tomorrow."

Honestly, I hope he did.

Tonight's game was about the Marlins, the city of Miami, and most importantly, Jose Fernandez and his family. The Mets were background noise even though they handled themselves with dignity and class. I am glad the Marlins won and more importantly, began the healing process. A great job to everyone involved tonight in honoring Jose Fernandez the right way.

So says the mets hater, will MLB give mets a chance to replay this game since it seems they gave this one away ?? Dar No crying as Gordon hit homerun is a bit much for me ! Colon said he was glad he lost tonight , maybe Collins should of spoke to Bart and had a conversation about how he felt and then went with Noah tonight.

Trying to find the part that Gary Cohen broke down talking about how much Jose loved this country. Talked about with so many players in so many sports at so many levels, disrespecting the flag, here was a guy who risked his life 3 times to come to THIS country. The playing of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" by a single trumpet,a baseball version of TAPS, I think, was unreal, raw emotion. So classy. Seeing Cespedes breaking down and Marlins players hugging him, was a special moment, to say the least.

Wait. I thought there was no crying in baseball ?
Seriously though.....the mets and even most mets fans handled things the right way.
The kid was only a small part of the way through what was surely gonna be one of the great careers of all time. Damn.

Geez....what a crybaby.
Why could you possibly think that he has no right to post his opinions about the mets in a thread on the Rutgers football board about said losers ?
If this were a thread about Tom Brady you'd be yapping about his "ruining the joy" of Brady fans ?
If this thread was about the New York Knicks you'd be crying about his "ruining the joy" of Knick fans ?
If this thread was about Bruce Springsteen you'd bitch that he was "ruining the joy" of fans of the Boss ?
Why oh why are mets fans so sensitive ?

Well said, thought the same but I honestly didn't care enough to reply to the quivering.

I know NOAH was in the trade too. During the post trade talk a lot of people kept saying how great Travis was. Phillies got Holliday blue jays got Travis and I think drabek? NOAH ,Travis, beccera, and buck for thole, nickeas, and dickey

Well, if your going to get hot, now's the time, since we got here without them to this point. Duda, of course was injured,Bruce is trying to make the trade work out. The pitching staff,is really down to 2 proven players, unreal, when you think about what the expectations were in that area.Press on Mets, this has been better than expected, when you consider what has happened to a pretty good, yet injury prone staff.

Would we do a 4 man rotation in the playoffs?
Syndergaard
Colon
Lugo
Gsellman
I strongly suggest that you make the play-in game and then win the wild card before worrying about a playoff rotation against the Cubs. The Mets are by no means "in."

Yeah. If I remember right the Giants have a pretty fair pitcher at the top of their rotation.
