7PM ...ESPN Tomorrow (Monday Night)....Monmouth vs Iona...Round 3.......it'll be a war....in a matchup that appears destined to become a heated rivalry in the MAAC.....

I'm sure both schools are going to have busloads of students in Albany as the winner advances to the Dance - with Monmouth having a shot to still make the NCAA's as an at large if they lose....though still guaranteed for the NIT's as Reg Season Champs....

Don't underestimate the importance mentally for Monmouth having Deon Jones return today...huge boost for Monmouth...as he is Iona's 2nd scoring option and gives Monmouth much physicality that it needs vs Iona

That being said, I just think Monmouth has been a team of destiny this year and I expect them to win in a very tough physical game.

Wish the Champ Game was on a weekend as I would have traveled to Albany for this one....

Let's Go Hawks!

Been to 4 Monmouth games this year. Very fun team to watch. Was surprised to see jones back already. He brings leadership. Had a nice game back today despite wearing that glove. Looking forward to tomorrow nights game.

I thought Deon Jones playing rusty and forcing himself into the offense may have had adverse effect, but apparently he looked OK. Similiar situation where Marcus Wright was out for Siena for cple weeks, came back and played horribly, hurt the team. I don't know if AJ English and Isiah Williams can be stopped.

This is basically a pick em game on a neutral court, yet Monmouth is a bubble team and Iona probably won't even make the NIT should they lose tonight.

I thing Iona has the physical toughness to defeat Monmouth. The decisive win at Monmouth tells me at crunch time Iona has what it takes to win the league championship tournament.Monmouth might still get a NCAA bid based on their impressive road wins.

I've been following and rooting for Monmouth since the Wayne Szoke, Corey Albano, Alpha Bangura days and have been to their old gym and new one many times in the past but I'm rooting for Iona. Not exactly a big fan of Tim Cluess but not a fan of how Monmouth has conducted itself this year with the embarrassing bench mob nonsense and multiple fights. Screw 'em.

Why should I root for Monmouth?

Because they are an underdog NJ team that has upgraded their program from the low end NEC to the much tougher MAAC conference. Iona is a bully MAAC team that lives off of transfers from other programs who often utilize phony hardship transfers to return to the NY area. Believe me, everyone in the MAAC hates Iona except their own fans.

What's not to like about Monmouth ? Small school with a great campus near the beach in Monmouth County near Long Branch. Don't get hung up on the bench theatrics. Those who live near or who have been around Monmouth University love the school.
