- Atlantic City has put in a bid for the MAAC Tourney effective for 2020. Other candidates include Bridgeport, CT (ugh); Nassau Coliseum (possibility) and Albany (won't happen). Several years ago at the A10 Tourney in Atlantic City, I actually ran into Richard Ensor (MAAC Commissioner) and we spoke about Atlantic City as a potential venue. Presuming Hofstra does not join the MAAC (see below) - A.C. will be the venue especially given Ensor is a Jersey guy and AC is on the way up again.
- Newman also stated that though the MAAC is not actively looking for a 12th school, it does seem to have made "overtures" to Hofstra. Interesting also that the MAAC is having a tripleheader at the Nassau Colisuem later this year with Iona - Manhattan as 1 of the games. If Hofstra does join the MAAC, I'm sure the tourney will be at Nassau Coliseum. Hofstra is in the CAA - so I guess it would be a step down but it will also save travel costs and generate local rivalries.
