MATCH THREAD: RU v Purdue, 12p, RAC, BTN+, matchups:

Corenti needs a better fitting headgear , he almost gave up 2 take downs when his opponent shoots while he's fixing his headgear.

Correnti really seems to be gaining steam. It's gonna be interesting to see how he finished in big 10 championships.

Outside of Scott D giving up a bad reversal to lose to Welch, was very pleased with how this one turned out. Time to turn our attention to a challenging but winnable match vs Michigan and probably a comfortable win vs Sparty next weekend.

Quick post match thoughts-

The freshmen Paetzell & Correnti continue to rapidly improve in aggressiveness, confidence and conditioning.

You can say the same for Razohnn Gross.

Theobold looked terrific, Ashnault, JVB and Gravina did what they needed to do.

DelVecchio and Bak probably feel they could have wrestled better.

165 Coach G has some decisions to make, none easy.

Paetzall, Correnti and Gross have vastly improved since the beginning of the season. Bak I guess had an off day but Scott D needed to close that one out. That'll hurt come B1G tourney season with seeding.

The improvement we've seen from Correnti in a relatively short period of time has been awesome to see, great job by the coaches. At the beginning of the year it almost felt like we would be conceding 197 all season.

Illinois just whooped on Michigan badly

This loss from bak is a bit worrisome... The guy he faced has a sub .500 rec and Pagano proved he's more then capable with his midlands performance...

150th win for Coach here. Pagano will wrestle both next week, prediction. Michigan is killing Northwestern. They have the Amine Borthers, Logan Massa in the middle of their line up who are very good. It will be interesting to see what they do at 125 as Assad has been hurt and they forfeited that weight recently. See what they do today.

I think it'll be a mirror image of the Illinois match...toss up, coming down to bonus points.

Crazy Assad is their only 125 pounder on their roster

Kid he lost to was 10-6 (going into the match), one of his losses was 10-3 to Pagano at the Midlands.

Bak is just not getting it done. We Have to put in Pagano Just like Goody did at 125. Let him go a couple of matches and see what happens. Pagano has a better chance to qualify for Nat then Bak does.

Novice wrestling fan question here:

During DelVecchio's match, he gets the 2 points in OT and is in a dominant position to get more but the ref calls it, then reverses the decision, which ultimately cost him the match. I know things happen, but how is this fair? Did the ref call it too early?

Does anyone else who was there feel Delvecchio got screwed in OT? He was awarded a takedown and the ref blew the whistle. Video review overturned the points but it sure looked like he would have gotten control had the whistle not blown and they continued wrestling. By awarding the points too early the ref cost him the opportunity to win in sudden death.

Coach G addressed the question of fairness in his presser. Basically said Scott DelV got screwed, but it happens both ways sometimes. Del Vech just got unlucky w the call and the timing of the call. I'll try to find a way to link the Coach G presser.

Just bad luck as Abro eluded to. The sad thing is Scott was in such a good spot he would have gotten the 2 in a few more seconds anyway. Unfortunately, nothing you can do there.
