NCAA TOURNEY SECOND ROUND DISCUSSION THREAD

Danny coached here. He's a good coach. He left us at the altar last year. We owe him gratitude for even considering us
Sounds funny. Owe him gratitude for even considering us. We extended offer, a good one, apparently were led to believe it was being accepted, then the offer gets out somehow, Rhode Island bumbs the contract, and Rutgers left hanging, embarrassed once again, in the press. And the Hurley family comes out saying it was all about loyalty. Seems like we got played. Just my take.

The long and short of it is we don't owe him anything and he doesn't owe us anything.

The guy may be a good coach, but college basketball coaching graveyard is littered with guys who turn mid majors around only to fall of the earth when they get that P5 job. Time will tell. What we do know for certain is he s*** the bed the last 1:15 of that game.

Agree with you. I don't blame him and his family for playing Rutgers for more $green$$ from Rhode Island. It's business. But I don't have to like them for it.

Duke always has great talent, but is perpetually soft, which a lot of times is their downfall

Duke 27-29 from the charity stripe. USCe 23-28. Make that 25-30.

Duke was 5th in their own conference yet a 2 seed and some wanted them a 1 seed...in reality they were more like a 4. Give credit to the SEC because besides Florida and Kentucky, this conference has been a mess so SC really proved themselves and their program tonight and Arky was vailiant in defeat.

NCAA was hoping for Duke and Nova fans to pack MSG but now they will rely on an odd mix of 4....8 seed Wisconsin, 7 seed So Carolina, 4 seed Florida and 3 seed Baylore...more like a football tournament

SEC also looking grossly under rated. Arkansas looked good. Vandy was a tough game. Ole Miss beats Cuse. Alabama had decent year. All these numbers guys manipulating system. Makes you question rankings.

Not going to feel for Duke but it is really odd that a 2 is playing a 7 on basically 7's home court. Just hard to take NCAA Committee serious.

Nice observation, bac. It does appear to be a gridiron showdown now...lol

South Carolina is performing much to well relative to their expectations for this to be football ;)

So here is the Sweet Sixteen conference breakdown:

Big 10 - 3
Big 12 - 3
PAC 12 - 3
SEC - 3
Big East - 2
ACC - 1
WCC - 1

No Cinderellas, no party crashers. It's a Power 6 tournament except for Gonzaga, which has become a power conference in itself, like UNLV back in the day.

Prices per Stubhub will be plummeting like the Stock Market in the Depression....
Right now the cheapest ticket, excluding singles, is $225. It will drop below $100, the only question is how far below, and how long it will take.

It was a home court for South Carolina because UNC-CHeat was also at that location. Talk about having the crowd against you.

There is always UNCheat

My thoughts exactly. Sad that they live to play another day and keep the NCAA at bay. Will that case ever be decided. This NCAA tourney could end up with its champion as "vacated."

As for USCe's home court advantage, how could anyone ever feel sorry for Duke or UNC for having to play opening round games outside of the state of NC? They've enjoyed the home court for decades. Part of me hopes that NC never changes its offensive law.

Lots of empty seats at the MSG because of Villanova and Duke losing.Ticket sales largely based on perception of teams especially at neutral site.

Sick of the NCAA manipulation with seeds. Wichita State gave Kentucky all they could handle. Two teams NCAA hates and makes them play each other. Feel for Illinois State as we're deserving and don't give me the play stronger teams out of conference when nobody will come to your home or like Monmouth last year when you do play those teams it still doesn't matter.
Had to call something because he clearly traveled.
The only thing that would have made that call worse is if the so called shot went in. How can you not call something with some bodies sprawled over the floor ?

All those years Duke never had to leave the state of North Carolina in the first two rounds. And if it wasn't for the change in venue because of the bathroom law, they would've been home again this year.

Duke has a history of not having to travel far, and being seeded higher than what most would believe they should be (except, of course, Duke fans). I don't feel bad for them.
