...anyone using the subsidy as some kind of gigantic indictment against Rutgers Football (especially since FB has been turning small profits for years and Rutgers may have the most painfully honest accounting of ALL of D1A sports) loses 90% of their credibility in my eyes...they lose the other 10% when a 'new' name seems to jump right into the middle of something like they're been there all along and basically takes every opportunity to trash Rutgers under the guise of 'telling it like it is'.

DNA22 is being pessimistic buy he's probably closer to reality about what our new clothing deal will be. We're probably not getting Cal level money, it will probably fall just short, but it's going to be a heck of a lot better then what we have. Maybe the NYC market gives us a bit of a boost but I honestly don't know.

BTW, you're not going to find too many young Rutgers alum in Williamsburg of all places. Young Rutgers alum settle in Hoboken and more likely on the Jersey side of Manhattan.

The NYC TV market includes northern NJ. I really don't know if you took the 5 boroughs and compared cfb fans Rutgers would come out on top. Maybe, but probably end up in the top 3-5. Probably because they're more likely to live in northern NJ in places like Hoboken, Jersey City and Bergen County and commute into NYC for work.

Other than that you can't argue against the fact that Rutgers simply has the greatest number of fans in the NYC market. I mean New Brunswick IS IN the NYC market. Of course they have the most fans.

I do get mad when I read people bitch about the program and set crazy expectations for this team as I'm just thrilled to be in the Big 10 period and still can't believe how far we've come as a program. For those of u who weren't around for it my Junior and Senior years were the 96' and 97' season. The football team was a running joke at that point, we had guys in 97' who Legitamately did not know how to line up at their position (not a joke) The last football game I could even bear going to ended up being a 50-3 thrashing to Syracuse. Again if you are under 35 years old you won't understand what I'm talking about but the fact that we are where we are as a program is incredible to me and beyond my wildest dreams when I was a student. So wh n I see people make unrealistic predictions just so they can complain about how much the program is a disappointment down the road gets very annoying and yes, I am also one of THOSE guys who can't stand when fans bash our players. It's one thing to be held accountable, but the way some of you all have trashed both Laviano and Nova the last 2 years is downright disrespectful. Again, I apologize for getting carried away.

Yes, that's exactly what happens. Nike probably supplies 400 uniforms for the team each year but sells thousands upon thousands of jerseys through the school, Scarlet Fever and other outlets.

A lot of posters have been around a long time. They lived through the Shea and Littlepage years.

What you have to realize is that things are different this time, or at least they appear to be - that gives people hope. We finally have the trifecta of a competent AD, Football coach and Basketball coach who will not be permanently handcuffed by a lack of financial support. Many of us wear scarlet colored glasses, but this is true from an outsiders perspective too.

I am 47 (graduated in 1990). If RU wins a B1G football championship in my lifetime I would be ecstatic. I hope for it but don't expect it. I just want to be a solid 3rd place ( in recruiting and record ) in the brutal B1G East division. Not easy but I have a lot more hope now than I did a year ago. It is easier for me to dislike Franklin and Harbaugh and their fanbases. I think Franklin is a little afraid of us now. I doubt Harbaugh is, but crazy people tend to not fear things.

The "I've been burned before so I expect to be burned again" is not the right attitude to have. Not now. Neither is the "Pie in the sky" attitude. Hope is finally here and it isn't just a glimmer.
