Butler #4 seed hosting Minnesota.
Villanova #1 seed (wut) hosting VCU.
UCF vs. USF in a 4-5 local matchup.
Iowa #3 vs. K-State.
There are of course other games but those are the ones which caught my eye.
Still no mention of teams turning down bids.
IDK. 32 teams accepted, only a handful declined.
Now they are talking about the teams who opted out. Quickly change subject to let's talk about the teams who are here. And properly so IMO.
As far as I can tell only Oklahoma, St Johns, Pitt and possibly Indiana turned bids down...?

They are experimenting with a wider lane in the NIT. Not sure how much wider.

Technically inaccurate to say they turned bids down. They preemptively declined. Whether they would have all received bids, we will never know.
The broadcast team is now ripping the schools who declined, as you might imagine.

Can understand the modern mentality but I know there was a time when kids and coaches wanted to play as many games as possible no matter where or when.

I really think one of the reasons Indiana turned it down was because they knew the committee would have sent them to Terre Haute to play Indiana State. And you know they wanted no parts of that

Agree! 10x better than the past few years when regular season conference champs who didn't win their league tourneys received an automatic bid.

Which suggests to me that there were more teams declining NIT bids than has been made public. I can't see Xavier being selected over Syracuse. Cuse must have declined. I suspect there were others
They couldn't have found a regular season winner of a mid major or low major school that lost in their conference tournament and picked them instead?
Well I’ve been told today the BE is like the NBA so they should take all of them they can. Maybe DePaul can join too!

The last time I was in Walsh was to see a WWF show in the late 70s. How many people does it seat? Isn't it like a HS gym?

Not flaming - I think the optics would look better, plus they’d generate some additional revenue, if they did
it's college basketball and if you're a junky like me I will watch the quarterfinals and beyond when there are no NCAA games on. Same with minor bowl games
