  1. Moving 3pt line back like 1 ft 8 inches to international.
  2. 4 ten min qtrs
  3. Shot clock to 20 sec after offensive bound
  4. Foul lane to 16 foot nba width.

Hum ..

Yes
No!
Interesting
The refs never call 3 secs as it is

What is the difference between 4 10 minute quarters and 2 20 minute halves?

5 fouls a quarter before the bonus I think
And it eliminates the 1 and 1 completely. They're trying to make the game like the NBA (which I freaking hate) and they also think shortening the shot clock makes for more/better offense. I think it makes it worse if more shots are launched. If it were me, I'd move the shot clock back to at least 35 seconds again. Wouldn't mind 45. They're moving the game in the wrong direction. We don't need to go back to Dean Smith's four corners nonsense but we're going too far toward the NBA style.

Women’s game has gone to 10 minute quarters for past two years. Big difference is the elimination of 1 & 1. With 5th foul in quarter it’s 2 shots. Personally I don’t like it.

Ok with the three point line and foul lane . I do like college basketball the way it is. Only thing that could help is finding some way/rule to make the regular season more meaningful. The whole season boils down to conference and NCAA tournaments

Yes on the 3pt line being moved back. Really hope they don't ever go to 4 quarters or shorten the shot clock.

With the way RU currently shoots 3s, they should move the 3 point line back 5 feet.

I hate this but its coming..if they are trying its out its only a matter of time. I absolutely hate hate hate the idea of quarters instead of halves...this isnt the nba so why are they to forcing it to be like the nba..they do it in womens and I hate it there too. Eliminating the one and one is total bs that is a huge part of the game and strategy

They are NOT proposing shortening the shot clock. That would only be after offensive rebounds, and it's not the worst idea in the world. I just don't see the point.

They are trying to make it more like the international game, not necessarily the NBA. I'm not sure why anybody cares if it's like either one, to be honest. I guess they think there would be fewer fouls this way, but if you have to foul you have to foul whether it's 1 and 1 or two shots.

If you want to move the 3-point line back, I don't really care. But the rest of it? The game doesn't need that much tinkering.

Agree completely. I love the 2 halves. I know it’s mental, but with 4 quarters it just feels less intense. There is something about the game just feeling shorter that adds to the intensity.

I can see the score keeper messing up the shot clock after rebounds, which would then require the refs to huddle up and fix it....ugh...more delays....

like the rest of you I am fine with everything BUT the darn 4 qtrs thing. No, please!

keep in mind these 4 changes are not a package deal but each being tested and exclusive of each other.

who knows, this could also be a way to get more attention for the NIT Tourney as well.Although reading the article sounds like all the previous "tests" from past NITs were implemented.

Why can't the just focus on the cheating....

The biggest change with quarters in the NCAA women's game (after the elimination of the 1&1) was ELIMINATION of 2 TV commercials per game. Men have 9 commercial breaks, Women have only 3 per half plus first coach time out of 2nd half.
I did not believe the networks (i.e. ESPN and others) would go for it, but they did. I absolutely believe a reduction of commercial breaks will NEVER happen in Mens regular season, unless the find a way for more commercial time..
Also note the NCAA tourneys already have an extra commercial break as the first coach time out in BOTH halves is a commercial break..

Yes - definitely puts more emphasis on the midrange/interior game, as fewer college players will be jacking up threes
Meh - Don't really mind it, but would rather not.
Interesting - would definitely change the strategy for defensive teams that like to run the clock.
Yes - clears out more space for dribble penetration and interior passing.

Sure
Nah
Wat
Honestly didn't even know it was different

Yeah, anything where two different possible actions are required depending on who gets the rebound, in a live ball situation (unlike resetting to a different # after fouls), just sounds awful. Ball hits rim, shot clock is reset to X. That X should not depend on where the ball goes afterwards.

And it eliminates the 1 and 1 completely. They're trying to make the game like the NBA (which I freaking hate) and they also think shortening the shot clock makes for more/better offense. Try these out.
Change the rules so you have 45 seconds to make a basket. Shot clock runs until you do make a basket no matter how many offensive rebounds you get. If you don't hit a shot it's a Shot Clock violation.
Change the rules where the ball has to cross within the area at the top of the rim before shot clock runs out. Rims would be fitted with laser sensors. (We have the technology). Add a display above the board that would display "NO BASKET" if the ball went through late.
Change the 3 point line to a line 2 feet beyond the top of the key completely across the cross. No arc. Line runs sideline to sideline.
Keep time out rules and 20 minute half rules the same.
No 1 & 1's. Make it 2 shots on ALL fouls and 3 shots on Technicals.

For each quarter, two free throws are awarded once a team reaches five fouls.

Also, it may have an impact on substitution decisions.

Wouldn't really need to huddle up, just stop and take off 10 seconds.

Most likely there would be a 20 seconds button, below the 30 seconds button, on the clock operator's control board.
