No. 12 Rutgers Wrestling Set to Compete at the MatMen Open

Sammy not looking good. Gave up 3 takedowns and 2 back points already and there is still 45 seconds left in the 1st.

Oliveri looked good against Phililps. Lost 2-0 tough fight to try and escape at the end just couldn't pull it off as Micki barely got riding time at the end.

Joey O looked tough. In on a good shot, fought like hell to defend 2. Can't get ridden for a whole period but a great effort from a true frosh. And looked very solid at the weight. Probably would say he looked big at 33.

Would love to know what the hell happened to Alverez. It looked like he just gave up. That kid was a freshman who got 5th in California.

Agreed. No shame in being that close and losing to a top 10 guy who is a 2x R12 finisher that way.

He looked awful from the first whistle on. Not sure if he wasn’t feeling great or injured himself previously, but he put up little fight and then after the injury time he just gave up and got pinned. Hope he’s okay.

agreed. Definitely looks like our future 133.

I am going to give Sammy a Mulligan. Yes, he was down 4-2 then got hurt as he was being taken down and went to his back....he clearly got injured during the takedown. Yes, he gave up on the last take down., but if he is really injured he most likely would have inj defaulted anyway.

White looking very good as well… rode his opponent out the entire 2nd period. Start of the 3rd and he’s up 4-1 with 3:30 of ride time.

I can agree with that. Like I said, he didn’t look right from the moment he stepped on the mat. Not sure if he was ill or nursing some previous injury. After the injury time he was finished.

White tough on his feet! Lots of riding time. Just pretty damned good. Rough third period. Same w Joey o. Frosh mistakes on bottom and gave up a period of riding. Need work there but solid every where else.

Mistake was taking bottom. You take neutral, get another takedown. He needs to look at his corner.

Anyone got a score on Clark scoreboard isn’t working looks like he won

White continues to impress. But that 3rd period he just shut it down
His opponent was tough on top. Got boots in and didn’t really try to do much so White was able to fight it off without much danger. Only got hit with stalling once so that was really the only issue he had to contend with.
