No. 12 Rutgers Wrestling Set to Compete at the MatMen Open

NCOW 165. He needs to move up
That's right I forgot. He wrestled the entire year unattached at 157 and moved up to 165 for the tournament. Could be a case of he's out grown the class is sucking too much weight and losing all strength. Cause he looks like he's being out muscled. Might be better to tell him to start bulking up in the off season for the move to 165 next year. I've been a huge cheerleader of him from the start as he's from my area, but this year thus far has been disappointing.

Makes sense bc he definitely looks weaker then his opponents. Goes to his back with ease. Looks very tired and sluggish

Is he big enough for 57. Looks like a nice sized 49. Who would be in at 49 if he moves up?
Some combination of Shawver, Olivieri, Peterson, Raimo, White, Alvarez and Kannaird should fill out the bottom 5 weights. Good luck trying to guess how that shakes out.

Hard to really judge Turley at all, as he's supposedly been injured and missed a bunch of practices and matches, so he's likely out of wrestling shape. Even really good wrestlers look like crap when they don't have enough mat time and conditioning. I'm surprised they haven't shut him down for a medical RS, but don't know the extent of his injury.
Can’t disagree with anything you said.

Clark WBF, Turley up 1-0 in 2nd
Give credit when credit is due. You guys constantly rip Clark, he guts out a nice pin from behind, and from what I saw this 2 word post is the only mention. I get it’s not a B10 opponent but how about some support when a Rutgers wrestler who is struggling pulls through. There’s a few people on here who are supportive but overall it’s like 80/20 negativity to positivity.

UPenn has 11 in the quarters, Pitt has 8, Wisc 6, and Rutgers, N.Ill and Ill have 5.

125-Shawver/Peterson
133-Garcia/Raimo/Olivieri

I think you can only get points from one wrestler per weight class
I think that's right. I was just posting how many each team has in the quarters. UPenn having 6 more than us isn't great. Heck, I'm disappointed that Pitt has 2 more than us.

Clark has been a weak spot but I do give him credit for perseverance. To my knowledge, he has not given up. And he went up two weight classes to fill the spot. Expectations should be tempered.

Hopefully Poz and Soldano won’t be gridlocked/stacked at 1 weight. We’ll need both of them in the lineup.

When I saw WBF I seriously thought it was Won By Forfeit not uncommon in tournaments.
Rivera got one (Rivera pin) post and that's it. Sometimes action is so fast in tournaments(one guy on top of another) no one has time to post.

Also at that point unless using two devices I believe you only had a choice between watching Clark or Turley. Which did you choose? I'm sure the overwhelming majority chose Turley. Hard to comment on something you don't see. But good for him.

mike....is this an overall, everyday training comment? Or, does it mean we need to do more on the day of a match (pre-match) type of thing? You're talking to someone with no training experience whatsoever lol! Thanks.
In season training. Keep the strength we built during the off season. In season strength training is different than off season or pre season.

Clark isn't a weak spot, he's learning college wrestling. He's only a freshman like O'Neill. I know its frustrating to watch our kids loose but they need our support. I watched them have two good weeks of practice.

I wouldn't sell Turley short. He's had times like this. In a month or so if he's showing the same results, we could have another Andrew Camp on our hands.Kanniard Im very worried about. He looks burnt. I know he's up a weight class, but he's not even trying.

Kanniard isn't up a weight, if anything he's cutting too much.

He's not up a weight class, if anything he's down a weight class. Andrew Camp was a NQ round of 12 twice, I hope Kanniard turns into that. Turley will be fine, he just came back.

Love this team

Turley was an AA as a true sophomore, yet someone is trying to compare him to a 0 time AA???? Why bother even responding to that?
