No. 14 Rutgers Men's Lacrosse Plays at No. 7 Maryland in Big Ten Tournament

A few thiuggts

Mullin has been very good. Last save was great

Our shorties are killing us. Losing guys, sloppy in the middle of the field…should be better by now

Still in this! I feel like the offense moved much better in Q2.

Get this to a 1-2 goal game at the start of the 4th and all the pressure shifts to UMD

That hurts turnovers up top are painful

Losing faceoffs

Dixon just hit the nail on the head.

Maryland wears us down forcing us to make mistakes. Sums up every game

One thing we need desperately is slicker stick skills. We’ve lost that in the last few grad classes

This is the most bearable Maryland is going to be for the foreseeable future which is painful to say

Always feels like we’re pushing boulders uphill against this team.

And we can never go on any sort of run because Wierman is so dominant for the Terps on FOs.

Plus our offense is just stuck in neutral. Ball movement bad. Shot selection bad. Lots of standing around and playing iso.

We’ve gotten into a bad habit of standing around and watching the guy with the ball try and dodge and score. We might be the least active off ball offense in D1. Our off ball offense consists almost exclusively of the 2 man pick game.

They are trying to give this game to us and we simply cannot capitalize

They give us a gift we give it right back

Of course leads to a cutter goal after another missed red call

This is what they do to us. They get out early we press they make us pay

Wash rinse repeat

Did anyone really think that RU had a shot to beat UMD? Finish the season and try to reload for next year. From Final Four to tied for last in the B1G.

Feels like every team (except Men’s Soccer) went backwards this year.

Team is not talented and lacks motivation or sense of urgency. 0 plays on offense, everyone standing around watching, feet glued to their spot. Defense leaves at least 1 guy wide open every possession, it’s a miracle when the other team doesn’t score on any given possession.

Defense is getting gassed opening up their great cutting game even more

It’s painful to say but Marykand is better everywhere. Better players, better coaching, better across the board.

That’s the case with most every program though. They aren’t the team they were last year but you wouldn’t want to play them in the tourney

Marylands ability to find guys through traffic is impressive

Just a brutal goal to not put Erksa on his ass

Depth. How much have they suffered from the loss of Zappatello and how much has Rutgers suffered from the loss of Cameron?

Thx to the seniors. They won a lot of games here and took this program to heights RU has never been. Not how anyone wanted the B1G season to go, but you look forward and not back. Staff will look around and figure out how to step forward next year. The best and top historical powers don’t make the ncaa every year…program took some big steps the last two years…this year they just couldn’t keep that trajectory…but that does not wash away the recent success. Just gotta go get better

Some of the personnel losses from last year were just way to much to overcome.

It’s a proud program and we will move forward.

Thx you seniors!

Agreed. Our communication, as good as Maryland is at feeding the ball inside, was poor all season.

We were very spoiled by our rope guys over the years. As a group, we didn’t see nearly that type of production this season. I’m sure that will be a focus in the off-season.

That’s what makes us play the way we want. Faster. As someone recently said, our brand is being hurt playing this way. We need to get back to running and gunning. If that requires moving some offensive guys to SSDM then so be it.

No doubt. Success is never a straight line up

Thought Scott’s comment was spot on, re just struggled to put it all together. That sums up this season. Pieces were there but was tough being consistent due to injuries and change of personnel.

If you go back and look at who they lost due to graduation, that they still had a good season - and 1 more win in conference play probably would have meant the playoffs, is amazing.
