Too bad Haddonfield and Paul VI can't combine football programs and form one team!
Why? Paul VI finally got something going. Good for them.

Haddonfield football and basketball been getting anyone they wanted from Camden County for years.

Tico, is that a new school? I thought I'd heard of every school, but don't recognize that.

Good luck to WeeQuahic...

I was actually joking and forgot to add the :) Two ranked teams from a smallish town is pretty impressive.

And while I knew Haddonfield took kids from other towns, I didn't know it was having that positive an effect on athletics. Naive on my part.

Kind of brilliant on HHS part since some of those out of district families can actually afford the tuitions. And the school is better than most public schools in the area.

And didn’t mean any harm. Just saying PVI football always had a rough time for decades. Nice to see them ranked anywhere.

Weequahic has not given up a point in four games.

St Peter’s Prep 0-5 is unheard of

RBC might be best team in Group B

I’m sure Bosco will wind up in MetLife again

Surprisingly rough start in West Orange

Mainland might be the best Public School in NJ.

Surace 19-24 for 292 yards and 3 TDs. Notre Dame is 5-0, but hasn't played anyone good yet.

Winowich also putting up numbers. 300 yards over two games on only 25 carries.

Wayne valley despite being 1-4 is tough. Wayne valley lost some really close games.

And AJ went off that game rushed for over 200 and threw for about 200 on 15/16 passing

Weequhaic, shabazz and cedar grove is the best 3 teams in a north jersey single season perhaps in group 1 history. An absolutely brutal bracket to get through.

@tico brown couple big north jersey public games I’m pumped for this weekend

Hanover Park @ Caldwell (ill be there)
Roxbury vs Mount Olive
Ramapo vs Northern Highlands (best game of 2022 last year, wild one)

All on morris sussex sports broadcast too

That Hanover Park/Caldwell game is sneaky good as well.

Some pretty good games on that YouTube channel this week. We would’ve been on this week but… 🤷🏻‍♂️.

And to think. Shabazz is two defensive stops away from being 5-0. Instead they’re the 16th seed as of now at 3-2. That’s how deep North 1 is this year.

Between this and those South 1 powers on 295 who are having down years (Paulsboro, Penns Grove, Salem), this may be a good year for the north.

North group 3 is incredibly weak. Its old tappan then everyone else. The weakest ive ever seen. I love warren hills as far as what they run but theyre not that good talent wise and theyre likely #2 in group 3 north.

Week 5 North Champ predictions:

Group 1: Weequahic but this will be a brutal bracket with Cedar Grove and Shabazz in the running as well.

Group 2: Westwood. Too good. #7 the slot receiver is a game breaker my guess is hes a legitimate 4.4 speed kid. Qb is very good too. Just a solid team.

Group 3: Old Tappan, not even a close #2 to them.

Group 4: really competitive tough bracket, theres no clear cut team. I could make a case for 4-5 different teams. I’ll say Mount Olive for now. Mount Olive Roxbury this weekend will be tremendous to see how each stacks up

Group 5: crap shoot, anyones guess. I’ll say Union

I’d like to say Vernon may sneak up on people but idk if they have a pedigree for that. North 3 is bottom loaded with Lincoln, West Morris, and Hillside but we’ll see how they’ll go Vs hard part of their schedules.

They gotta face Timber Creek, Cedar Creek, East Side, Camden, Delsea, etc… YIKES!!!!

Yeah Old Tappan will cake walk to meet one of those at Rutgers. This years group final actually begins Sunday or Thanksgiving weekend through that Wednesday I believe. A little odd but they wanted a clean break between fall and winter sports apparently

Down South Predictions
Not familiar with 5-0 Schalick but they’re the 1 seed. 4-0 Florence is playing for the HC who is retiring after 50 years. Still got defending champs 3-1 Woodbury but with Salem, Penns Grove, Paulsboro down, this may be the year for the North.

Group 2: Westwood. Too good. #7 the slot receiver is a game breaker my guess is hes a legitimate 4.4 speed kid. Qb is very good too. Just a solid team.
Point Pleasant Boro having a great year so far at 5-0. RFH usually beat up the bigger schools but they’re 2-2, which may help them for the playoffs. Haddonfield is back at 4-0. Maybe 3-2 Willingboro or 5-0 Middle Twp. But Caldwell, Hanover Park, Westwood may take this.
Group 3: Old Tappan, not even a close #2 to them.
Timber Creek, Cedar Creek, East Side, Camden, Delsea, etc is going to be tough for Old Tappan.

5-0 Mainland might be best Public in NJ. But their TOUGH schedule isn’t as tough as it should’ve been and now they may have to score 60s to justify their start. Millville, Brick, and Winslow not far behind. This should be a GREAT Group 4 Final.
Group 5: crap shoot, anyones guess. I’ll say Union
Same thing with Group 5 but big question: Is TRN still TRN without Micah Ford? So far so good. Cherokee, Rancocas Valley, Marlboro, Hillsborough and Hunterdon Central will make it another great Group 5 Final.

And I’m calling it right now:
Donavon Catholic over Bergen in Group A. They have skill kids who should be HIGH on Rutgers boards. They have the team and scheme to grind it out and keep the ball vs the Big Boys.

This is the one I’m looking for: Donavon vs St Joes. Hopefully this will make my prediction look good lol.

Too bad it’s on the NFHS Network. But I bit the bullet and got a subscription for this year.

I know St Joe's is down a bit as is all of Parochial A except Bergen Catholic but I would be stunned if MonDon went up there and beat them.

St Peter's stinks----it was only a scrimmage but it was a Game Scrimmage and RFH was a mile better.

The Shore Conference screwed over the traditionally good Group 1 and 2 teams with their insane scheduling system. Just took the best teams record wise over the past 4 years and seeded them into 5 conferences. RFH , Raritan and Keyport only play 1 game against schools in their group---and in the case of RFH and Raritan it's Point Boro who has a ton back from a 9-1 team.

Compare RFH and Raritan schedules with Caldwell's-----it isn't close. They only play 1 Group 2 school.

Don't get me wrong Caldwell is very good but it isn't remotely the same thing.

Donovan is the number 1 seed and they’re damm good this year. And that is a long trip to Tom’s River. Might make the difference.

And besides, Joes is 4-1. Only teams that’s down this year are Bosco and Prep. It may be that Donovan is catching up to the Big North.

Shows you how good of a program RFH and the other are. They just coach them up and compete vs the bigger schools while others would have complain if they had those schedules.

I"m an RFH resident... I go to a few games per year, including the group2 state final against Caldwell at Rutgers last year.

Their schedule is insane this year. Midd South, RBC, Donovan Catholic, Toms River North, Point Boro. We are a smaller group 2 school playing group 5 and parochial A schools.... makes no sense
