OT: 2023 NJ HS Football Season

Why they’re not on schedule? Conference rules?

No this is what the Shore Conference did this year.

Forty teams-----5 divisions of 8 based on your overall record over the past 4 years.

No regard given to what Group you are-----just the best 8 records play amongst themselves and you pick up the additional game from the Division under you with the team in the same spot you're in above them.

That's why you have Group 2's playing Group 4's and 5's----and Parochials where in reality it doesn't matter about their enrollment because for the most part they are recruited teams.

I think it's a total screw job.

I’d like to say Vernon may sneak up on people but idk if they have a pedigree for that. North 3 is bottom loaded with Lincoln, West Morris, and Hillside but we’ll see how they’ll go Vs hard part of their schedules.

They gotta face Timber Creek, Cedar Creek, East Side, Camden, Delsea, etc… YIKES!!!!
Re Group 3:

Went back and watched a couple vernon games tonight after this post. Dont see it with them. But to your point, west morris with that wing t is 4 yards and a cloud of dust. They could pick someone off of they have a lead at half. They can control the ball for an entire quarter. But still cant see anyone beating old tappan in group 3.

True. Nj com has that Bob Costas wanna be announcer who says 500 words just to say FIRST AND 10.

STILL not worse than the D1 Media Pro announcer. That goof was literally PISSED that Snyder beat Barringer 40-8 last night that he cut off the game as soon as the clock hit 000s. That was after he hoped that he hates Jersey City schools and hopes that Shabazz beats Lincoln (tonight). And Snyder paid for this jackass to do their home games?

Nj.com guy aint bad but the audio always gets cut. The morris sussex guys typically really know the teams they are covering and its a legitimate broadcast

Morris/Sussex people do a great job, esp our game vs Delbarton last year. Actually were impartial and gave us lots of props, unlike other “hometown crews.” Talked up our QB as he was having a great first half, saying that Rutgers or at the least FCS should look at him.

So does the Cape Atlantic Live crews. They had me watching Schalick/Wildwood of all teams lol. Did a hell of a job covering the Battle At The Beach last month and is having a good year with their games.

Best part is that both companies are free on YouTube unlike the D1 Pro idiot who has the nerve to charge people for his crap.

Not NJ HS Football, I’ll get to that in a few.

But this video from a Texas HS game is disturbing.

Lots of one sided wins tonight:
-Caldwell shows off that they’re STILL the champs as they beat Hanover Park, 27-0.
-Don’t know what’s going on with the Newark schools as two of them sleptwalk this weekend. But 3-1 Barringer got clocked by Snyder 40-8 with DJ McClary looking like the proverbial Man amongst Boys on the field. Shabazz lost to Lincoln 14-0 in a typical Coach Hampton Ground and Pound crowbar bashing.
-Two South Jersey Group A teams did well last night: Paul VI beats Moorestown 17-10, St Augustine beats Shawnee 24-31. Too bad both will lose in the first round when they go up north or to the shore.
-Holy Spirit beats Clearview 24-0
-Game of the Night was Ramapo beating Northern Highlands 34-33

My game of the day will be Bloomfield at Dickinson… 😂😂😂😂

Seriously, Donovan Catholic at St Joes will hopefully help my Donovan prediction lol.

Ive watched 5 replays already… haha. Northern Highlands Ramapo was a good one but I think Mt Olive vs Roxbury was better. Mt Olive vs Roxbury was the game of the year imo from everything, on field product, coaching and atmosphere. Truly had a down south atmosphere.

Shabazz is disappointing. They loaded up on talent and cant beat these teams. Getting shut out is just unacceptable

Caldwells top test was always Cedar Grove. Will be a great game in two weeks. I think Caldwell is 4th best in group 2 behind westwood, haddonfield and rumson

I was trying to watch the Northern Highlands game but the lighting sucked as it looked like the lights refl brightly off the wet turf. Couldn’t see a thing. I’ll check out the Roxbury game later.

Was disappointed in Shabazz. But that game is PURELY Lincoln’s MO through the years. Pound the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 out of a team into submission. They always run the ball and play TOUGH defense almost every year into the second round of the playoffs. They are 4-1 AGAIN and (along with Snyder compared to the other two JCPS schools) are the only bright spot in JC FB:
Dickinson will be an o-fer
Ferris is the worst HS program in the state
Hudson Catholic will forfeit to an 0-9 season
St Peter’s is 0-6
😳😳😳😳

TBH, I was more disappointed in Barringer, coming into the Snyder game 3-1 after scoring 50 over Orange. They sleptwalked through the whole game Thursday. Nothing went right for them. Can’t do that, esp if you’re going for a Group 5 run.

Donovan Catholic got a pooch kick and Najee Calhoun scored his second TD to make it 14-0.

This apparently woke Joe’s up as they are now driving.

Delbarton over Paramus Catholic 28-0 in the second.

Camden East Side over Willingboro 14-10 at the half. CES Willy Love catches a last second TD to end the half.

Joes drove 80 yards after a missed Donovan FG and scored to take 24-14 lead at the half.

St joes scores two more TDs in the third.

Najee Calhoun broke the 38 point run by Joes as he scored his third TD of the game to make it 38-21.

St Joes over Donovan 52-28…
DC Najee Calhoun 4 TDs
Joe’s Patrick Grusser 4 TDs

Checking this game out. Great first quarter so far and you’re right. The game sounds like the crowd is in Serbia. Great crowd!!! Waiting for the smoke bombs to explode on the 30 lol… 😂😂😂.

Next week is one of those great “Top 20” type Matchups. Camden East Side is going up to play at Irvington next Friday Night. Should be a great matchup.

I thought this was an off year for Irvington. They’re currently 2-4 losing to Union City Friday night,

I told you MonDon was no match for St Joe's.

On the LOS it isn't close.
They can run the ball. They just can’t throw the ball at all. They at least had an RPO scheme last year which they threw the ball off the run. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Point boro beat rumson. Pretty big win. I thought rumson would take that one

Didnt realize point runs the triple option.

Ive always said, rumson is pretty poorly coached. Goes back to last year, down 18-7 to caldwell in the 4th, they score and then coach kicks an extra point to make it 18-14 rather than going for 2. Hows the game end? Rumson getting stuffed on 4 plays 1st and goal from the 10 because they couldnt kick a fg

How arent you running a bear front here against this!?

Surprised by Irvington being 2-4, after getting some transfers.

UC Vs Lincoln this Friday at Caven Point for the best in Hudson County, as well as a boost towards both teams playoffs.

Here’s a program Rutgers should reward their coach with a plaque or whatever. But 3-2 Columbia’s Gary Mobley has done a great job turning that team around. Last year they lost to everyone by 30-40 but they only lost to Irvington by 21 (40-0 L last year) and 12-0 to Passaic Tech (Forfeit L in 22).
