How the rest of the season ends up notwithstanding and whatever happens with Alonso; and I don't care if he stays or goes: but I'm struck by the fact that we really have a need for another left-handed middle of the lineup power bat.

Padres lead Dodgers 4-1 in the fourth.

I believe that for the Mets to have a legit shot at catching the Padres for the 4 seed, they would have had to sweep the Braves. Since that isn't happening, I am no longer rooting against the Padres. I want them to catch the Dodgers, and be fully motivated in their final series against the D-Backs. Just in case Plan B is needed, which we all hope it is not.

DISCLAIMER: I fully realize that who I root for has no bearing on anything.

Most disgraceful Met performance since... Friday! And we know what happened after that. Keep the faith.
Facing Chris Sale in the House of Horror is a much more daunting task than Ranger Suarez at Citifield. .

Hence my fear ..,,reinforced by decades of futility vs Braves historically and as recent as 2 years ago.

Can they play double header in Miami tomorrow ?
Can they even get there ?

Marlins on the road .

Mets would love it . Could get 2500 plus walk up Mets fans to sit behind their dugout

Yesterday's Tampa at Detroit game was moved from a scheduled 6:40 start to 1pm due to a forecast of rain. I would love to hear someone from MLB; (or is it them in conjuction with the home team) explain why the same thing wasn't done with today's game!

You know the situation better than I, but from what I read, it will rain all afternoon and evening. I will defer to you on that one.

All I can say is nothing as of yet and I'm currently around 3 miles from the stadium at an appointment. When I return home I'll be around 10-12 miles from the ballpark.

I agree. It seemed like a pretty obvious move. If there is a double header on Monday, the team that emerges with a playoff spot is going to have a bit of a mess on their hands, putting together a rested staff to pitch a short series starting Tuesday.

I'm old enough to remember MLB screwing us for home field against the Astros in '86 because of an Oilers home game. This subsequently screwed us in '88 when we should have had home field due to the every other year swap thing.

They just apparently will never fully grasp it, although I applaud recent changes like putting a runner on 2nd in the 10th to avoid depleting a pitching staff April thru September.

Beginning lines from The Athletic on last night's game:

"ATLANTA — An exorcism is not supposed to start with a reintroduction of your demons.

Poised to make a statement in this enormous series at Truist Park, the New York Mets instead played one of their sloppiest games in months."

Mason Black takes the hill for SF tonight. He does not appear to be the second coming of Bumgarner.

Let it rain. There are worse things for the Mets than facing Sale and Fried on their regular rest.
...and some extra rest for Lindor.

As of now, I can't find anything on line indicating this game has already been canceled.

Mark Gooden? Dwight's brother? 😁

Weather forecast seems to have changed for Atlanta:

This Afternoon
A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 70. East wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tonight
A chance of showers, mainly before 11pm. Cloudy, with a low around 65. Southeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

---------------------------
Def Leppard?- Mets need to Let It Go.
Steve Miller?- Take the Money and Run

Don't Stop bELievin'!!!!
The Weather Channel is still showing at least an 80% chance of rain through 2AM.

If there should be a game Lindor is batting leadoff and playing SS. But getting rained out and having the Braves need to pitch Sale and Fried and maybe Schwellenbach over the weekend instead of Monday would be a nice piece of karma for the Braves.
