OT: 2024 NY Mets Season Thread

I had no idea that Grimace was still a thing. The HamBurglar was unavailable I assume? Nor do I have any idea how Grimace would throw a pitch.

But hey, whatever works!
He threw a great first pitch all things considered!

Gary Cohen mentioned that with tonight's game, the Mets have now played in 62 different ballparks in their history. How many have you been to? I count 15, although not always to see the Mets.

I still feel like I will see the score 9-8 before we win it. lol Sorry- but that is what this team has done to me.

But love seeing the offense getting going over the past month.

10 active ballparks. Add 3 more for non active. Will be seeing my 11th this Sunday coincidentally the Rangers stadium we're seeing now.

Some of you all reminded me of tge 2 Phillies stadiums and forgot Atl and Minnesota- I think that gives me 14

Shea
Previous Yankee Stadium
Veterans Stadium, but for an Eagles game so.... not sure if that should count
If so, Arizona too from the Insight Bowl
PNC Park (Pirates)
Brewers
Dodgers Stadium
Fenway Park
Atlanta x3 stadiums

So seven home teams are covered there. Decent amount, but a long way to go.

Grimace aside, make it 12-4 since moving Lindor to the leadoff spot. He gets A LOT of grief, from this fanbase, but we're watching a star player do star things this last month. On 5/18, he took an 0/5 in Miami in that horrendous 10-9 loss, dropping his BA to .190. Since then, he's lifted his BA 52 points and his OPS by 135 points. The Mets will go as far as he'll take them this year. I love Pete and I love Nimmo, but Lindor is the engine.

Only Rookie ball on Mondays.

Always defend him. You know what you're getting year in year out. Above average bat at SS with great D. For some reason he does start slow every year but he gets his numbers where they need to be.

JD has been phenomenal as well the last week.

Lindor moving to leadoff and that team meeting really has seemed to help.

My active baseball stadiums. You can throw in Shea, old Yankee stadium and the Vet to these.

CitiField (Mets)
Nationals Park (Nationals)
LoanDepot Park (Marlins)
Citizens Bank Park (Phillies)
Wrigley Field (Cubs)
Petco Park (Padres)
Yankee Stadium (Yankees)
Camden Yards (Orioles)
Fenway Park (Red Sox)
T-Mobile Park (Mariners)

On Sunday GlobeLife (Rangers) will be my 11th. Hope to get to all 30 teams one day.

JD is the bat I wish we had at DH when the NL implemented it in '22. We also can't discount the Alvarez effect. They're something like 16-6 with him behind the plate and the pitchers fall all over themselves praising him.

The Athletic has the Mets at #23 in current Power Rankings, with this blurb, matching the analysis above:

"The vibes, as they often do, have shifted in Flushing. After falling 11 games under .500 on June 2, the Mets have won nine of their last 11 games, including a five-game winning streak that featured a sweep of San Diego this past weekend. The team can now consider itself part of the conversation among the mediocre clubs competing for wild-card spots in the National League. Considering how crummy the first two months of the season were for the Mets, this qualifies as progress. And it’s no coincidence that the recent upswing has featured a revival from Lindor, who slugged .558 during that 11-game stretch. — McCullough "

The only stadiums I've been to for games are Shea and the 2 Braves stadiums. Turner Field and now Truist. just don't like baseball enough to go to any others and really only care about Mets games with the exception of some postseason games.
