OT: 2024 NY Yankees Season Thread

THAT White Sox lineup scored 12 runs off of the Yankees pitching ?
I think the offense could use the Martian...OF/DH.

This pitching staff is shot.

Starters can't get to the 6th inning and consequently, the bullpen is being overused.

And Cashman passed on Flaherty which might have ensured an early playoff exit.

White Sox are a glorified Triple A team, and as someone mentioned...tonite was an absolute embarrassment.
Every move Boone made tonite was wrong. Pinch hitting Rice for Chisolm...WTF? Chisholm was 2 for 3 against a LH pitcher.

Bullpen isn't overused...just not that good.
Cousins, DeLosSantos, Tonkin, Weaver, Hill....was Cashman shopping at Walmart ?

It feels like Walmart would be upgrade at times. Some of these guys are found in Goodwill stores.

I get it that in baseball, nights like this will happen, but giving up 7 or 8 runs is becoming commonplace now.

Chisholm was hurt and is getting an MRI today. Elbow injury.

Game was a WTF forget about it, go out and get laid tonight loss. (Mind set of the 70s and 80s….lol)
The real tragedy is an embarrassing slide attempt from a guy who didn’t realize a force play was in order a few games ago.

Did they call "infield fly" on Verdugo's bunt?

That's how bad it was. His body language is "I don't give a shit".

Are you kidding me? The team gets blown out by the worst team in baseball and your take is go out and get laid and forget about it? Your tragedy of the game is a bad slide by a guy who has been nothing short of good since coming here? How about the horseshit managing and piss poor attitude by the majority of the team as a tragedy?

Watching the CWS TV feed tonite and they said Chisolm will be evaluated on Wednesday to determine if season ending surgery is required.

That doesn't sound very positive.

Peraza may be getting another big chance.

Couldn’t give two craps about a giveaway WTF loss in a 162 game regular season.
When you get your asses kicked it always looks like bad managing and poor attitude to the un-trained eye.
The Jazz injury is by FAR the ONLY tragedy of the game, and it’s not debatable.

In baseball against a last place team on the road, you laugh off an ass kicking like this

Managing is managing and attitude is attitude it doesn't matter the profession. A good manager does not allow for poor attitudes! If your heart is in the game you don't laugh about getting your ass kicked on live TV. I doubt Judge was humored. And it clearly does not take a "trained eye" to see piss poor decisions being made. Some people just need to think they are important. It's only a game, not that tough to figure out. If it was 7 year olds wouldn't be playing it!

The difference is I played in games like that and you didn’t.
I know what takes place in the clubhouse and you don’t.
The toughest manager in MLB history, Billy Martin would walk in the clubhouse and say flush this one guys, kick their ass tomorrow,
Chuck Tanner would have said “the local mill team would have beat us tonight with a big laugh”
You can beat your ass Judge wasn’t the least bit concerned about an opposite laugher, they happen.

DeLosSantos gets love and hugs for taking one for the team.
He was a sacrificial lamb the manager, coaches and teammates will go out of their way to pickup.
He sits in first class on flight to Detroit.

I think he meant that he's not because he got DFA'd after the game.

That’s professional sports.

We needed this one today as we have Stroman going against Skubal tomorrow. Not good odds.

Nobody could hit today...but once again, Stanton and LeMahieu shouldn't be in the lineup.
Two excellent examples of the risks of signing guys to long contracts.

Crappy, unentertaining game today, lose 4-0 to a mediocre detroit pitcher, Rodon our #2 pitcher lasting 3.1 innings

It is fitting that the game was decided by a Little League rule.
If the runner on second rule is so great, then why don't they use it in the post season?
Baseball could handle this "problem" by expanding rosters by 2 pitchers for 3 days after a game goes more than 12 innings. Its opponents-if not the same team-for the upcoming days would have that same option.
There are 10 teams in serious contention for the best overall record-with Houston coming up fast in spot No.11.

There really is no reason to have any confidence that Holmes can get you that save you so desperately need.
This team is apparently in need of a closer.

If Yanks don’t make playoffs it’s on Holmes = those blown saves have screwed Yanks in the standings.

Even if they do make the playoffs, and likely will, they won't get out of the first round without a bonafide closer.
