OT: Areas in North Jersey to Buy House

afford with great schools. Montville, Towaco, Franklin Lakes, Ramsey,
Demarest, Northvale, Allendale, Upper Saddle River, Randolph, Tenafly,
and even Morristown are places I would consider."


I spent a lot of time in Franklin Lakes. Driving through it doesn't look like much but the area around Phil Simms home has some of nicest streets/homes I've ever seen. I have friends there now selling a house for just under 2 million and its runty compared to others around it

I know that the OP is looking for bang for his buck, but I would suggest Mountain Lakes, my town. One town over from Parsippany. Top 10 school system, very involved and proud community. The only town I know of in NJ where kids play lacrosse in the street and parents feel safe enough to let their kids walk to school by themselves. Tons of public lakes and a big park. A Norman Rockwell childhood for my 7 and 4 year old. Some snooty people but no more than you'd find in Mendham, summit or Westfield.
