OT: Electric vehicles

A clearer picture of your lack of understanding of the economics of car manufacturing couldn't be had on a billboard. Evergreen post.
F's debt is staggering and so are their labor costs. The CEO even admitted that most Lightning models don't turn a profit.

Nice try though. LOL!

For someone who claims to be in the pharma business, you don't know a whole lot about product cost vs. unit cost.

What he said, and what is widely known, is that the Lightning program isn't expected to be profitable until Gen 2 because Ford is still in the process of recouping billions of dollars worth of R&D against current sales.

There's a pretty specific accounting difference between that and how much profit they make, per unit, against manufacturing costs.

LOL. The CEO of F knows more than you. Maybe one day F will make a profitable EV. However, they need to get rid of some of that debt. It is killing the company.

Once again, I iterate my request that you present us with at just one topic - anything - that you know something about. Because so far your legacy is "Village Idiot".

Former Village Idiot. He got voted out from the job.

Not that I’m choosing sides here. Just wanted to make a factual clarification. I’m all about accuracy.

If you scroll down in the tweet thread, you'll see a woman filling the wiper fluid reservoir of a Tesla with gasoline. 😂
Is that the whole story, or is this BS?

I think it was the CFO who actually said this but you are leaving out a lot of context here. As noted, part of the issue is the recouping of R&D costs for the Lightning. It's not uncommon for an entirely new automobile built from scratch to take years to get profitable. Note the Mach-E from Ford. It's profitable now but initially wasn't as they recouped their R&D costs.

R&D could be zero. When you're only producing 60k EVs for the whole year (Lightning+MachE), your not going to be in the green.
We'll know exactly what they're making/losing with the q1 earnings report. As of Jan 1, Ford will be reporting earnings separately for ICE and EV

Ford and all of the automakers are very transparent in their reporting. Not sure why Tesla can provide details. Not sure why investors are ok with it.

Transparent in reporting their EV profit/loss separately from their ICE sales?

I don't believe you're correct. I'd love to see it if you have that data.

They are reporting model sales numbers and regional sales numbers. Probably not worth the expense to break it out yet because EV sales are still too small. I bet you once the sales reach a certain level, they‘ll break it out. Just like Ford.

Sounds like they are hiding things. LOL at ICE companies.

Hate to feed the Ford hater, but it seems at least one Ford dealership is not prepared to handle service issues with the F150 Lightning. Some props to Tesla service too. This one is a nightmare. But one lemon does not sour the whole bunch.

It’s not just Ford. Anything with too much electronics risk these type of issues. I remember once my frunk would close automatically and I was freaking out. But it closed after the 2nd try and works fine now.

How much money are those Brits saving on powering EVs?
Do you mean because they are heavily subsidizing petrol and diesel fuels due to the war? Thought the anti-EV crowd did not like subsidies for energy companies?
Charging at home is still the cheapest of all. I'm laughing all the way to the bank, saving at least $3,000/year on fuel and virtually no maintenance costs. Winning!!!

But, but ... the Brits

You'd think he'd be pissed off about his Tesla stock losing so much value recently. Stockholm syndrome?
Always felt like he writes this bullshit on here in hopes he and his fellow Tesla fanboys can help lift the stock ... even if it's just a tiny push.

I assume he's one of those commenters on auto news sites, too.

What I find ironic is when he accuses some of the more nutty CE boarders making anti-EV posts here of being paid. They aren't paid; they're just paranoid obsessive script followers doing what they're programmed to do.

If I were forced to guess which of this thread's contributors is mostly likely being paid, it'd be him. Because why on earth would anybody expend so much effort to shill for an automotive brand for free? And when you think about it, a person attempting to convince other people to buy stock the person owns is actually working to get paid.

TSLA beats on Q4 revenue and earnings. Stock up after hours. Too bad for the haters. Better luck next quarter. LOL!

My Tesla investment is just fine. In fact, I never bring up Tesla's stock in this thread

Instead of just saying I "write this bullshit", post something of substance to dispute it.
