The system is flawed, if it isn’t , how do some citizens get called multiple times… 3-4- 5 and others NEVER have been called or served jury duty. These are people who are registered voters and have a NJ driver’s license. Explain that. The system knows if you have served . They love those who have had prior service on a jury.

Apparently many today don’t care about this. Just “don’t bother me”. Cynicism and apathy have led to the destruction of previous democracies historically. We may well be on our way.
Look if I have to go, I'll go. However, I'm the owner of a small business, employ men and I'm hands on. If I have to go my men will lose out on work. Sure, I can set up a day or two, but five days, no way will I have the material or logistics they need to continue. I run the orchestra, I'm not some employee of a 500 person corporation where my absence will not even be noticed.
Most counties have a one day or one trial policy - that’s what Middlesex County does, so if you go and don’t get put on a case it’s only one day.
Didn’t I already say one lawyer?

Don’t remember occupations of anyone on the civil cases I was involved in, would suspect none, but wouldn’t swear to it in a court of law

Last 3 + years have clearly demonstrated the possibility of what you claim. We probably need a clear change of direction and thinking.
Anyone who holds a law degree or a law enforcement officer should be dismissed automatically. In most cases they aren’t peers of the person charged or being sued. Now you won’t understand but it is conflicting. Most perceive the law in one respect. Same on here… those equating the constitution and jury duty as a duty or obligation … it is a right … you should therefore be able to choose if it is YOUR right to serve or not. In today’s messed up world forcing people seems to be en vogue. Please remember…. I have served over 131 weeks of jury duty in my life. I have spoken with numerous fellow jurists who did not want to partake and many who were dismissed eventually by the charging judge for a lack of interest. There are plenty of solutions to correct this current system in selection. You see confusion and a complex system where it should not be.
My friend you just don’t understand that it’s not the actual destroying of our “democracy “ take. It’s not about being judged by a King or a Rogue judge.It’s about how the system of selection is flawed . I have not seen anyone explain how some have NEVER been called to serve on a jury while others get called multiple times. You can’t … the common answer by a jury manager is they don’t control it… they don’t have a say in it… they claim it’s done by what else a computer. Like all else FIX the problem and don’t blame everyone else for the issue. If someone wants to serve great but if they don’t and have a legit reason don’t threaten them. You don’t want the King to rule on it right?
It hasn’t in 30 years, but if it does, I have no clue about any jury duty notices. My mail man is a drunk, maybe he threw them
