Was anybody there?

C'mon, Mick--it's Pork Roll!!!

“So we went to the Tick Tock Diner!” said Jagger on the stage to cheers. “We had Taylor ham, egg and cheese! With Disco fries! And sloppy joe to go!”
The crowd lost interest when Jagger brought up the American Dream complex next to the stadium. It was a mix of murmurs and light boos.
The American Dream reference was perhaps Jagger’s only misstep in the night. In fact, he seemed to grow stronger over the two hours the band was on stage. He did his famous elbows high-and-tight strut down the catwalk stage for “Miss You” and his voice was as strong as ever for “Jumping Jack Flash,” performed after 11 p.m.

I'm sure Mick Jagger has no idea what Pork Roll or Taylor Ham is. He called it Taylor Ham because that is how it is listed on the menu at the Tick Tock Diner.

The first time I ever heard Pork Roll called Taylor Ham was when I was younger, at the Tick Tock Diner. I saw Taylor Ham on the menu, and ordered it, assuming it was a type of ham. When I got pork roll, I told the waitress that they made a mistake, that I had ordered ham, not pork roll. She told me that "taylor ham" meant pork roll. My girlfriend (now wife) told me not to send it back, because they would spit in my food.

Many years later, the manager of the Tick Tock Diner was convicted of plotting to kill his uncle, the owner of the diner. North Jersey is a strange and dangerous place.

I remember that story about plotting to kill his uncle. I spent many a late night early morning in that place back in my 20s

You mean South Jersey is strange and dangerous. North Jersey is just dangerous.

He had a thing for me. We used to go to the diner after Joey's in my 20s. Thankfully I declined.:Shocked Edit: I'm sure George had a thing for every young lady who walked in.

Do I look familiar?hahaha [cheers](BTW I saw your post after I posted!)

Mick has had a lot of experience ordering gourmet food.
So naturally when ordering the best: he will order Taylor Ham.
If he would accept any old thing, pork roll would have sufficed and he'd have asked for that.
That said, I've been waiting for a thread like this to pop up,in order to post this :

Depending on how old you are I am sure we may have crossed paths. The better part of my 20's we spent bouncing around North Jersey (specifically Bergen county) establishments
One place I spent a lot of time at was Junkyard near Garden State Plaza. (Wait, did we once have convo, was that you?)

Yes that was me.....invested some time there, as well as others in that area such as The Mouse Trap, Crows Nest, Eds Tavern, Gleasons, The OL among many others! LOL

regionally appropriate to refer to it as Taylor Ham in North Jersey.

Now if it was a show in South Jersey.... oh who am I kidding they will never play down there.

These photos could be described as “The Dance of The Living Dead.” Credit to Rodney for using that line in a movie.

Kind of sad that a rock band from the UK can get the name right but people from south jersey can't. LOL

Whoa! I grew up in Saddle Brook and all those places were my hangouts in the 70’s

Good job

I recommend Keith's book about getting popped for dope, shooting dope, being dopes, yet smelling like freakkin' roses for 55 years. Saw them with Brian Jones, 1965, Syracuse War Memorial. 2nd tour. (?)

Keith looks pretty good here:
d12_stones05.jpeg

Was he playing Micawber (his fav Tele - blonde one)?

I was never a big Stones fan because of Jagger (seemed like a spacker who couldn't sing to me). I like Richards because he does his own thing with (as he says) "5 strings, 3 notes, 2 hands and 1 a**hole"

"you say you're 16 years old. It's no hangin' matter. Ain't no capital crime."
Whoa. Saw him sing that at Winterland, San Fran 1974. Never thought about Epstein then. Even the feminazis didn't say a word.

Yup - their talking about banging underage girls - very risque.

It's on Sticky Fingers and so is Sway - think they admitted they where looking for the Devil at that time and may have found him.

Peace out

Saw the Stone's on their Star Star tour ( wink wink)when Mick rode the you know what. It was at MSG and it was Bianca's birthday. I was a kid then. With all the hits, I remember the one they tore the house down with was Midnight Rambler.
I was more of a Ram's Horn, Butterfields and the Meadowbrook kinda guy and later matured into J. Parkers up in Ramsey, although I would make an appearance now and then at Ashley's in styertowne mal and Society Hill in Morristown. If I wanted to rock out it was Mother's and Soap Factory. One also in Paramus that I think ended up becoming El Cid. My buddys band used to play there. Did a great version of Paint it Black to tie it back to the original topic of the Stones.
