OT: New Music (Released January 2020 or Later)

Gawd I hate this type of music. (yeah, get off my lawn). Critiques: 1- why does he sound out of breath--that's a common vocal effect thing--many of these artists all sound the same? 2- how many times does he say yeah, uhh, and/or uh huh in one song?

Interesting discussion on Jack Harlow here--video is provocative.

The chorus is catchy.
I don’t like his rapping, but apparently Kanye West does.

Kind of a derivative mashup of Pink Floyd's Meddle and ZZ Top's La Grange.

Which isn't to say it's bad, it's actually pretty good, IMO.
I think it was in the Metallica "movie" Some Kind of Monster when they were looking for a new bass player, Les Claypool auditioned. IIRC, he said he walked in and said, "Let's jam on some Isley Brothers." He said he was told pretty quickly that he did not get the job, and (sarcastically) that he cried. He is a good example of a guy who is better off pursuing his own muse for less fame and fortune instead of trying to fit into a cog like Metallica to make more money. As said above, the great thing about Primus is that they can play very "hard," and keep up with speed metal and metal bands. Saw them play Ozzfest in 1999 and they opened for Slayer on their farewell tour, and they did not disappoint.

Morissette unveiled her new song, Power, at the 2022 Miss Universe Philippines Contest. I am sure a new official music video will come out soon.

I realize this video was released 2 month before the cutoff for thread eligibility but it's new to me so I ask for indulgence in advance🤓

Anything that is Clutch-related (Neil Fallon appears in the video) gets special treatment. Volbeat really grew on me. They opened for Metallica at Giants Stadium several years ago, and they were solid live.

I think I posted the latest Clutch above, but since it's Clutch, here it is again (if it was already posted):

He seems bored with the "mainstream". A generational talent IMO.
The nice thing about what Tremonti is doing is he is donating all proceeds of the Sinatra work to a national Downs Syndrome charity. I am not familiar with his work post-Creed in Alter Bridge or Tremonti, but I will check it out. Myles Kennedy did lead vocals on Alter Bridge, while Tremonti did lead vocals in the band Tremonti.

Some of the comments, on YouTube, are hilarious and/or creepy. For example, this one:

"I was extremely skeptical of watching this guy at first, I didn’t find his image very appealing (how superficial, I know) but after listening to a few of his songs and interviews the fog from eyes began to clear and now I know that this guy must be protected and supported because he is the future of guitar playing… the next step in the evolution. Cheers brother"

I wonder why people cannot just enjoy (or not enjoy) the musical performance without injecting their own wild and entirely non-musical interpretations of "meaning" to it. The next step in the evolution? Overstating things much? 😀

Anyway, yeah, that guy is pretty talented. To be honest, although entirely different musical styles, I get a vibe similar to that which I get listening to Al Di Meola's music. I like both for what they are. But in both cases, the performances strike me a vaguely soulless; virtuosity for virtuosity's sake.

Santana or Pat Metheney can both shred it too. But when they do, they seem to do so with more soul.

Anyway, very cool and very interesting stuff. Thanks for posting.
