As for Escobar- I’m not as ready as many to write him off. I think he is very capable of .250+ and 25 HR.

Wow, $300m+ for a .280, 20HR, 70 RBI guy with a dubious medical record. This is not going to end well.
True, the Mets still have their top prospects. But this move suggests that they aren't overwhelmed by Baty or Vientos. in the least, their defense hurts them. Baty's defense at 3B hasn't been good. And it's not as if he's a young prospect. He's 23. Vientos is another guy who was at 3B but seemingly isn't anymore because of his defense. He's also 23. Given the Mets roster, they now have more time to try to develop their defensive skills (at what position, not clear) and still work on their O. I'm sure there will be options to call them up, but if they are no longer third-baseman, and with Escobar on the Mets roster to back-up Correa, it would likely be to play somewhere else. They both will likely be major leaguers, but it's not so clear whether they'd be big production guys.
The prospects that might have the biggest impact for the Mets are likely those behind Baty and Vientos, and those still to be added to the organization.

Boras asked Cohen if he had a Martini with three olives for a great 3B. Sheman thought Boras was asking Cohen for $3 billion. What Boras was asking was there room for Correa at 3B.
Also, one of the host for Hot Stove think the Mets should move McNeil to 3B so Lindor can feel comfortable with Correa. I thought Lindor and McNeil became a great combo once they played enough together to understand each other. Plus, McNeil is more athletic than people give him credit.

Just looked closer with Correa- he has actually been very healthy last 3 years. Played the full shortened 2920 season, 148 games in 21 and only missed time last year to Covid and getting hit by pitch.
Based on some of the reporting, SF got cold feet. Some of it has to do with their current SS having minor issues with his move to 3B for Correa, and SF doesn't want to tie up that much money with one player over 13 years. The result of the physical is an excuse to save face.
Smart move by SF. 13 years for a light hitting 28 year old is nuts.
As a Phillies fan, I hate this signing, but you got to admire Cohen using his FU money to go for it.

Yes, I heard the delay was not actually medical but executive. But that they still wanted to move forward but went dark on Boras for 12 hours and Boras opened up the market again but when the other teams went to bed last night, Cohen was in Hawaii and stayed in contact late night and made the deal.
That you never brought up the Yankees salaries in the past. I know its hard to remember, because you lie so much you forget what is real and what is made up. I would go with 99% as made up.
