Let me take that trip down memory lane.
1949 My mom would put on the radio and
listen to the Yanks with me. in 1950 or 51 we
got this thing called TV and really got hooked.
The Yanks won 5 world series in 5 years, Then
Cleveland won the American league tittle
in 1954 then we were back in 55 56 57 58 then in 59 Baltimore won the league championship. Then we were back in 60 61 62 63 64. so my first 16 years of
following the Yanks they were in 14 world series.
The Met intruders can never never take that away from me. My biggest memory of the Mets was What they did in there last world series win in the mid 80's. They tore up the plane going to road game. Destroyed the hotels they stayed at, and had a hard time finding someone to
bring them back here..

My favorite is the Mets retiring Willie Mays' number. The Willie Mays who played for many years with the New York Giants and then the San Francisco Giants, only to finish up when his playing days were pretty much over with two nondescript years with the Mets.
I always love the story of a reporter asking Willie near the end of his time with the Giants what he wanted to do when his playing days were over. He answered "get traded to the Mets."

I'm a Yankees fan since 1983. Winning the World Series is all that matters. And building the team for the regular season (instead of the playoffs) is definitely a failure (almost entirely Cashman's fault).

While no one can argue the Yankee history- I wouldn’t have even tried. 27 is a big number and how many won with divisions is also a big number. I am looking for another fun season in 2023 with both teams.
As for the WS or bust- I think it is now Kbee saying it isn’t all about the WS. In this case, kbee- you don’t get to argue both sides. Yankee fans are almost all WS win or the season was a failure and I don’t blame them.
It also ties back to busting your balls about the point that at least the Mets made the WS this past decade. And that is always criticized on the Yankee thread. It shouldn’t even be taken so seriously- it is about who win the next one.
And I would still love if these sidebars just moved on and some Yankee fans can seriously discuss the off season- the good, Judge, Rodon, Rizzo…the bad, closer and contact hitters.
What do you guys really think needs to still be done and/or- do you think Cashman is done?
You can't just wave a magic wand and add 3 contact hitters to the team. The offense will stay virtually the same with some youth in the middle infield at some point and possibly another OF at some point. I'm sure they'll add a piece to the bullpen before the season starts too. I don't think they are going to add a true closer. They'll hope Holmes comes back healthy and just throw arms in the high 90's at the situation and hope for the best.
