So, is any of this realistic ?Ohtani has already asked to be traded months ago. He wants out of a losing organization.
Never understood why Trout wanted to stay there.

Don’t see them signing judge and also turner / arenado

I was saying sign him after the trade. The Angels may want a haul for him but how many teams can pay him? 5/6?You had said that the Yanks should sign Ohtani. What are you proposing to trade for him? The Angels will want a haul in return.
I am not surprised, Both are on the payrollSo it looks like both Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman are coming back. Noon press conference with both of them at noon today. Yippie 🙄 More of the same old, same old.
Financially the Yankees made a ton of money. The 4 families now each are worth $1.3 billion. Hal and his sisters are all about the money and winning is secondary. Sadly Hank was more like dad but is no longer around.I am not surprised, Both are on the payroll
for this final year. Hal or Hank whichever is alive doesn't want to pay them for not being on the team. So this should be their last shot.
If Steinbrenner asks me I would tell him you are
just wasting time do it now. But it is his money
so it is his choice.
I'm a firm believer when you die you just die. You are not looking down from heaven. You don't spin in your grave. If it was George Steinbrenner would choke the living shit out of Hal.Then the Steinbrenners are like most professional sports team owners.
$$$$. Winning titles is just a bonus.
Yeah, but it's a pretty substantial bonus. Then the Steinbrenners are like most professional sports team owners.

I see you getting 1 of 4, wait, now it's 1 of 3.😎Some four-point plan: Sign Judge, Verlander, Edwin Diaz, and Carlos Correa.
Let's hope Cashman is on the case. 🙃
I'm not sure any Met's fans are telling you how to fix the Yankees. I have asked for some Yankee fan opinions on some realistic approaches. I think @RUInsanity did a good job at going through it.NY Post had a similar stupid article. Buy there way out of it. Totally ignore all the other problems. I'm sure nothing could go wrong with this plan 😳
Another narrow minded bandaid that is trying stop a hemorrhage.
They also are ignoring the finciancial implications. Currently sitting at $160 million salary with just 8 players with signed contracts including just 1 pitcher (Cole). Judge alone will push it close to $200 million making 9 players. The rest of the roster plus the other 3 in this plan would make this a $300+ million payroll. Great idea for long term success.
Maybe Mets fans shouldn't be posting about how to fix the Yankees.
DJ.So Rizzo opts out. So who is playing 1st in the Bronx next year?
DJ is no longer the .300+ contact hitter either with no pop at all. Batting in the .260s with just 22 HRs in the last 2 years. I wouldn't count on him.DJ.
Rizzo showed nice pop last season, but still batted .224. Next.....
Rizzo was also a great fielder and one of the guys that I would consider a leader. Not easy to replaceDJ.

might not be a bad time to try to trade him. He had a "fairly" good season. May have some value to some teamsWhiteBus and Yes:
Personally, I would like to dump Torres and play Rizzo at 1st and DJ at 2nd.
Still can sign him, it's just gonna cost more.Rizzo was also a great fielder and one of the guys that I would consider a leader. Not easy to replace
I have a bad feeling that DJ's best days are gone. Long gone.WhiteBus and Yes:

I’m not sure what he is supposed to say- he is paying the guy a lot of money- he should expect him to play. Even if he thought he could trade him, he needs to put on the act.New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told reporters Tuesday that Donaldson will remain the team's third baseman next season despite his struggles in 2022, per Sports Illustrated's Pat Ragazzo.
More of the same old, same old. Cashman will never admit his mistakes. Instead he double downs on them. You know we are in trouble when he said its not the results that is important but having a good process is all that matters. Anytime a team uses the word "process" its code for we suck and don't know what we are doing.
It's beyond who we bring in. It's the system they use. Changing players swings to hit more home runs that creates more strikeouts will never win a World SeriesLots to fix.
Not sure they can do it in one year.
Hate to even say this but a guy like Nimmo would be perfect for you guys. LH bat- some HR power but a good contact and gap hitter. .385 lifetime OPS - doesnt steal bases but very fast and good base runner and has become a plus defender in CF...much better player than Bader- but an OF of Bader/Nimmo/Judge and you guys look so much betterIt's beyond who we bring in. It's the system they use. Changing players swings to hit more home runs that creates more strikeouts will never win a World Series
Can we resurrect George somehow? This new era of inaction and frugality sucks. Even the Mets are trying to act like George used to.
That's exactly how I remember that run in the 90s. If George was never suspended most likely Mariano and Jeter would have been traded away. Bernie too. Gene kept him away from player moves when he was reinstated. Torre became a strong influence too after he was hired. George was the perfect owner after his reinstatement. Still had that passion to win but stop making incredibly stupid moves.George always wanted the Yankees to be great and Yankees fans look back on him fondly. But keep in mind that it was Gabe Paul who build the foundation for the Yankees run from 1976-1981.......and it was George getting suspended and Gene Michael taking over that was responsible for the foundation from 1995 - 2000's run. In between the Yankees missed the playoffs for 12 seasons in a row - a lot of it due to George's impulsivity and at the time many fans were blasting him and the Yankees for bad moves and bad results. Impatiently trading away young players like Willie McGee, Doug Drabek, Fred McGriff, Jay Buhner for basically nothing and went through 17 manager changes in a decade.
The key to winning will be finding the right GM.
I'm assuming that the Yankees are losing Judge so say you get Nimmo, who's switching out of center field?Hate to even say this but a guy like Nimmo would be perfect for you guys. I didn't realize you had a CFer? lol Seriously- if the yankees signed Nimmo- he would be playing CF regardless. And my example was actually Yankees signing Judge and NimmoI'm assuming that the Yankees are losing Judge so say you get Nimmo, who's switching out of center field?
If you were to sign Nimmo- Bader would not be the CF...The only advantage Bader has is stolen bases and he can steal those playing LF. You would not be signing a $20+ mil player how is a superior hitter and at least, equal fielder- to play out of position. If that was the convo with Nimmo- "We have our CF- who hits .250 OBP about .330 and maybe equal fielder" and expect he is signing with youWell Bader is now the CF since he's healthy.
I want to sign Judge, but for some reason the thought of losing him doesn't bother me much. Lots of other things to do with that money.I'm assuming that the Yankees are losing Judge so say you get Nimmo, who's switching out of center field?
I'm already resigned that we will lose him. I would resign him and deal with the regret 4 years from now when he's mediocre because of the value he brings to the franchise.I want to sign Judge, but for some reason the thought of losing him doesn't bother me much. Signing him can go really, really wrong. Big muscular guys normally don't age well. He is already injury prone. We already have someone like that signed for a long time! :)I'm already resigned that we will lose him. He just had an historically awesome season. How many 99 shirts has he sold ?Signing him can go really, really wrong. Big muscular guys normally don't age well. He is already injury prone. We already have someone like that signed for a long time! :)
They only extra money the Yankees get when a 99 jersey is sold is the retail markup of his jersey sold at the stadium only. A 99 jersey sold across the street at Stan's doesn't help to improve the Yankees bottom line directly. All merchandise sales are split equally by all teams after the players union takes their cut.He just had an historically awesome season. How many 99 shirts has he sold ?
He hits for power, drives in runs, almost won a league batting title, plays superb defense, even steals bases. All while representing the Bronx Bombers with class.
Pay the man.
Excellent assessment of the situation I think. I don't think anyone will hate him if he takes the big money and goes home. At least I know I won't.They only extra money the Yankees get when a 99 jersey is sold is the retail markup of his jersey sold at the stadium only. Besides hitting for power, and average he still strikes out a lot. His batting avg was a career best this season. He had a batting title and a Triple Crown in his hands when he hit #61. Lost both trying to get #62. Stolen bases? Lol. He has just 40 in 7 seasons.
What Judge does best is sell tickets and spice up YES TV ratings which both directly add to Yankees making coin.
Do I want him back? Of course. He is the face of the club and all of MLB. Do I think he will be back? No. SF Giants have tons of money to spend and they will offer him a contract the Yankees aren't willing to pay. The Mets have their own issues of trying to keep players. The Dodgers? I hear the stories but don't believe they would match the Giants offer either. So it's a two team race. The Yankees aren't getting a home team discount. They already tried that and failed. Besides San Francisco is Judges home team.
Many MLB insiders think Rizzo follows him to the Giants as they are interested in him as well.
