OT: NJ Devils 2023-2024 Thread

Rempe is a waste. A freak show goon who won’t have a long nhl career.

But no one gives AF about the Rags here.

Devils season is toast.

Fitzgerald cannot make foolish trades on desperation for this season.

He has to make moves to better the roster for the 2024/2025 campaign.

How much more of this do we need to see? Mathematically, sure, they're still alive. But they look dead on their skates. Just a nutless, gutless group of individuals let by a man with zero answers or clue. That troglodyte Rempe blows up Bastian and no one steps in, but Siegenthaler who promptly gets one-punched down. Known scumbag, Jacob Trouba, lays another high hit on Bastian and no response. How many more Devils does this guy have to take out before ANYONE on this team goes after him. Softest team I've ever seen - and there have been some Charmin Devils teams these last few years.

Anyone with more than 8 synapses firing saw this game coming last night. All the talk of Lindy's vaunted "system change" during the ASB has resulted in a whopping 4 wins in 9 games since. Maybe the Stadium Series win gets them going? Nope. Outscored 11-3 in 2 division games. What can be said about the PP that hasn't already been said about the Hindenburg? FOUR for SIXTY TWO since January 3. NJ doesn't score on their 5 min major. It takes the Rags all of 5 seconds to score on their ensuing PP. They were dusted right there.

Lindy Ruff's keycard shouldn't work this morning (though the team was given the day off). His response last night about pressure from reporters contributing to the team's lack of success on the PP is just embarrassing. He never takes accountability. It's never him. He's quick to throw Holtz and the young defensemen under the bus by name. But not himself. He's coached in this league for 400 years and his team can't handle pressure from New Jersey Devils beat reporters?

At this point, ride it out. Don't make any moves outside of jettisoning Lindy. Finish with 86 points and hire Mike Sullivan this offseason if PIT is dumb enough to fire him.
Troubas hit was a hit theyd show on actual clinic tape for being clean.

Rempes hit clean as well. Glides, shoulder tucked, doesnt launch. Not his fault hes 245

Nhl needs more players like rempe. The league like all sports is about entertainment and hes far more entertaining than little figure skaters scoring 15-20/yr

I don’t disagree with you since I’m an old school hockey kind of guy, but it’s what the pussified NHL execs want.

Rags fans cried an entire summer after Wilson rag-dolled panarin.

And a talentless oaf like Rempe has no future in the new NHL

You’re being way too harsh on Fitz. It’s Lindy that deserves your scorn..
Both ends of the bromance deserve it! Lindy shouldn't still be the coach, agreed. Now who usually would fire him? Hmmm Fitz! The same guy who shutdown interviews and searching for a coach, as soon as Ruff became available.
As I have posted, and why I put it this way, Tom Fitzgerald is a Lindy Ruff fanboy! It is why Ruff can insinuate the media is to blame for our powerless play. It will not happen, but it should, both should be fired IMO!

A serious organization committing to winning would have fired Ruff months ago.

Fitzgerald should be on thin ice too

Fitzgerald deserves a ton of heat.

Most fans that pay attention knew from the preseason that the roster was flawed.

Soft, lacked heavy players that don’t take shit. Goaltending was suspect and they needed to replace graves/Sevo with a proven minute crunching vet.

Luke needed to be eased in to learn the pro game. He’s been the #1 minutes guy a chunk of the season.

The Timo trade has been disastrous. The signing worse.

Travis Green is a loser coach. The PP is his.

How is a young and inexperienced Daws, coming off major surgery, our #1 in late February on a supposed playoff chase?

Ruff has made poor move after poor move with the personnel and lineups.

btw, Jack is on the wing cuz they don’t want him taking faceoffs with the injured shoulder.

A few more losses and they might shut him down for the season.
The Green hiring really irks me. In case you or a reader don't know why Green got the job, let me elaborate.

This job should have gone to Sergei Brylin. It was sarge who Ruff credited last year with all the in game changes! So what happened?

Fitz is friends with Green from their time as players with the NY Islanders, that is why. It also explains why Sarge was given that award, before say much older Chico. This team has potential, but is run horribly.

Earth to ownership! Jack says after the game last night the Devils need an "attitude adjustment."

Does anyone in power even care? They are on the clock.

Cried? Nah. Wanted to get a goon ourselves? Yes.

Rempe is improving. Hes not totally talentless. I think he can carve out a role as a 12th-13th forward

Rempe provides a very important aspect of hockey, you better be aware when he’s on the ice and keep your head up.
Defenseman play pucks and approach pucks differently when you know 6-7 245 is going to smash you.
He’s played in 4 games and hasn’t missed a single opportunity to crush an opponent

And if Rempe had thrown a forearm he'd have been out cold.

I would love to compare Rempe to Dale Puriton, but I can't. While he must learn to be more selective as to when and where to hit guys, because he is so big, if he learns this he will be a difference maker, whether he scores or NOT.

Doubt me? He went after arguably our toughest player ( Bastian) and without hitting him with an elbow or forearm, jacked him UP. Notice the hapless Devils NEVER responded. Now yes Jonas stood up to be put down in 1 punch, but Timo, Lazar, big pussy Bahl NEVER did anything to any Ranger. Last night was clean, but how many Devils is Trouba going to have to hurt before he is challenged?

No, unless he gets suspended for a hit to the head, which with Paros I doubt, this rookie should be proud of himself. Here is why, he scared the Hell out of the Devils! Instead of getting mad, the team was freaked out all night. As soon as Bastian went down, it was the Rangers game for the taking. His shot won the game!

Champions need ❤, NJD showed last night they DON'T have it yet, on this team.

I wonder how our record is against teams that have big, heavy players that have at least one heavyweight?
I know it’s not good.

Devils have no one that can throw down with Trouba or the goon they just recalled.

McLoud, pound for pound was our toughest player. Nate is tall but lanky - Not a strong base.

Bahl has size and can fight but it’s not his strong suit.

During the Devils Cup runs they always had big boys that were not fun to play against.

Some were their best players like Stevens and some were fringe players and goons like Peluso, Oliwa, Rupp and McKenzie.

Todays Devils are small, light, soft.

And tough guys like Guerin and Danyeko who could also play

Another sign of bad management. Nate Bastian is now on the IR.

So the ownership group that couldn't provide hot water to NFL teams after a game, hired a medical staff that couldn't see Bastian was hurt despite some of the pictures of him clearly not aware on the bench. Completely inexcusable!

Boom that was it. During our decade of decadence we not only beat teams, if they stepped out of line we beat them up. This is one of the hidden reasons our defense was so good at protecting leads. Back then our opponents were scared, so turning the puck over in scoring territory like Luke Hughes did last night for a NYR goal was not unusual.

What frustrates me is I've seen guys like Toffoli play tough in the past. Bahl reminds me of some old Giants RB who were huge, but ran finesse. Brandon Jacobs and Ron Dayne come to mind as 2 that tip toed through the tulips. We need a coach that can get him really angry, he's not effective unless peed off.

Reports today are Fitz is back to trying to get Markstrom, maybe Saros. I have a feeling he is going to get hustled, and screw us over long-term. Flames fans seem to sense this, and as of last night want Markstrom traded.

Fyi his injury was not related to rempes hit. He got hurt later in the game

Toffoli has never and will never be a tough player. I told you this in the offseason

Sounds like a bad cover story to take heat off. I'm not buying it
LOL. I was at the game last night and you can watch the replay. He hurt his leg, he could barely skate off the ice and was wincing in pain with the trainer

He was initially hurt on the opening hit. Maybe he hurt his leg on the stupid wrestling move, but he shouldn't have been playing. This is all in saying, enjoy your win.

Well no surprise, the charge to Bastian's head well not be punished by the NHL.
