OT: NJ Devils 2023-2024 Thread

This team still doesn’t look right to me. But there they are at 5-2-1. They hit the road for 7 of their next 9.
What may help them IS going on the road for awhile. Too much home cooking is no good. They need to taste some crappy hotel/restaurant food for a week or two. They will get better.

I doubt they eat much crappy food on the road, but all the travel does get them out of their comfort zone.

****ing ugh, no Nico for the road trip. Definitely must be a concussion from that hit.

This PP is lethal. If they can even get average goaltending, the league is in a world of trouble.

Onto STL tonight. Since 2010, the Devils are 4-14-3 against these Blues, including a 1-8-1 mark in that building.

Not great, Jack goes into boards hard. Went back out next shift but couldn’t finish it and went straight to the tunnel.

Ugh.

Frustrating night so far. I didn't realize the Devils had the most back-to-back games in the NHL, 4 more than the Blueshirts, this alone could cost us.

Hopefully Jack is fine. I'm surprised Dano didn't see the trip from Blues #72, much less surprised the NHL Leading Scorer didn't draw a penalty, 😆. Akira needs to atone for last game and keep St. Louis off the board. Go Devils!

Based on two games?
If you were an avid fan you’d know their record on the 2nd half of back to backs last season was good

And not good this season. They’ve looked like a totally different team in each of their back to backs. What does last years team have to do with this years team?

You wanna make a prediction and call the season over after 10 games, but have an issue with me making an observation after 2? Ok.

Blues lucky to have the lead after 2. Great end for the Devils. Will we see that team in 3rd?

Same issue plagues the team…

Just can’t play a full 60..especially after back to back

Now let’s hope Jack isn’t hurt too bad

Back to back hell 3 in 4 nights. Jordan had to find his A game tonight, unfortunately.

Didn’t see game. What happened to Jack?

Lost his balance going to net and slid shoulder first into boards. Stayed down for a minute or two, skated off. Went out his next shift but certainly didn’t look right, went to locker and missed the rest of the period and the next two periods.

Ruff said he’ll be evaluated Saturday.

Somewhat good news I suppose..he flew with the team to Chicago.

Hope it’s not a shoulder injury….separated shoulder type of thing. Between Hughes and Nico - they can’t stay healthy. Shame.

Sunday in Chicago is 3 in 4

Looks like a bleak trip
Ridiculous, it would be tough enough with it being at home. Like everything under the sun, it is the cumulative effect. The Devils had the most back-to-back games roughly about 5 years ago. With so many teams in the East, the NHL should, at the very least, change the team they most disadvantage every year, not having this happened to a team til ALL teams go through it.

Just my opinion, Jack Hughes is the least "protected" star in the NHL. If we picked Kakko, and last night happened, it probably would have been called beyond 2 minutes, but he plays for the wrong team. I saw a shot, the zebra was looking right at it. If you are going to call it tight, call it both ways, last night was home cooking.

Injuries this early makes me believe it is not our year.
