Who is this guy Nimmo you speak of?McCann with a hard grounder down the 3d base line.
Meanwhile, not a word on Nimmo, who is 3/21 against Fried, and looks totally baffled.
I find it funny how many people bring up McCann, batting 9th, expected to kinda suck at the plate like all of the Mets catchers. It's like saying water is wet or ice is cold. I'm not joking that Buck should consider letting deGrom bat when he pitches.Who is this guy Nimmo you speak of?
Assumed out every time upNow McCann hits it hard. If he had done that before we'd have 3 runs. Hell if he had hit a soft ground ball
Just like Nimmo against Fried.Assumed out every time up
3Why does it seem so strange to be disappointed in deGrom when he gives up 2 runs in 7 innings?
Medium depth center field and it took a relay to get the ball to the plate. Can’t happen
Ground ball just gets thru infield
Nimmo playing in Macon and a wet noodle arm throw to Ruf
Assumed out every time upNimmos turn
Wanted to be a hero.Over anxious Pete
Lindor had base easy
Not so replaceable as you may think. How much money is Boras gonna try to pry for this weak-armed, non-base stealing, .260 batting guy? Very replaceable.
I think thats as much a hope as anything. Not as much of a fan of his as some others here. Don't like leadoff hitter who is no threat to swipe a bag. Don't like an OF that can't reach on a throw from medium depth CF. Remember Marte has always been a CF though. Not so replaceable as you may think.
Certainly not replaceable internally within the Met organization, due to prior decisions of which we are all painfully aware.
Also not replaceable in free agency. The CF market this winter is very thin. Nimmo is probably the best available option.
That leaves the trade route. We already know that there is little demand for what the Mets are willing to offer. They may need to expand the definition of what they are willing to offer. Seems like they did that at the 2021 trade deadline, which is why we are in this mess.
Bring back Conforto. 😜Nimmo is what he is. Good player and now that improved his D to be in the top half of CF, you need to really consider what you do. Make a great offer but if someone offers something crazy, you wave goodbye.
He will be a loss though. He is just a very good ball player.
Issue is next year is very very weak for free agent CF's. Nimmo is best CF Free Agent. Next best is Kike Hernandez or maybe Charlie Blackmon - but I don't think Blackmon can play CF any more. And then guys like Kevin Kiermyer etc....Nimmo is what he is. Good player and now that improved his D to be in the top half of CF, you need to really consider what you do. What about Marte as CF? I know he'll be 33 or 34 but he's played the position his entire career for the most part. I know that Grissom wouldn't have scored if he was the one making that throw.Issue is next year is very very weak for free agent CF's. Nimmo is best CF Free Agent. Boras is Nimmo's agent so expect an inflated ask from Boras.
I'm excluding Judge as I don't think Judge is a CF nor do I expect Mets to go after him
lol...please see my edited post as I added the Marte CF question and maybe the need to put Mauricio in CF probably at the same time you posted...lolWhat about Marte as CF? Yes. Crow-Armstrong is CF primarily. By all accounts he could step in right now and be an outstanding MLB CF defensively. Offensively, he may not be ready in 2023, but probably not too far thereafter. Oh well.lol...please see my edited post as I added the Marte CF question and maybe the need to put Mauricio in CF probably at the same time you posted...lol
I guess Marte is as good a choice as any internally but his age and injury history gets me nervous.
Did Pete Crow Armstrong play CF?
