Cmon same exact F-in pitch called 3 times in top of inning is now a ball !!!

and the Braves got burnt on a horrible 3-2 pitch for second out with Acuna on deck

Over the past couple of weeks- our hitting has become insanely good-
Nimmo with a .424 OBP 2 SB
McNeil at .314 BA 431 OBP
Alonso .278 .365 OBP .902 OPS
Lindor .305 ba .351 OBP 901 ops
Escobar - forgetaboutit
Catchers- .307 ish BA and 820ish OPS
even Vogey and Naquin hitting well.
Cahna is the only one struggling but he is still getting on base at a .339 OBP

Need to carry this hitting through the rest of the way
Bench Ruf and Vientos

Tie breaker. If the Braves and Mets end up tied at the end of the season, the tiebreaker for the bye is head to head. Currently the Mets lead 9-7, so the 3 game set in Atlanta is critical. The Mets need to win at least one to maintain tiebreaker advantage. The Bye is a major advantage so hope Mets win it outright. We cannot afford to have someone batting.067 as designated hitter.

Mets don’t win one in Atlanta the tie breaker most likely won’t come into play anyway

its lined up to Bassitt DeGrom scherzer in Atlanta.

Quick quiz as we approach the weekend series - can you name three Oakland A's? How about one? Can you name ONE?

The A's are about as anonymous a team as there is in baseball. Their $53M total payroll is among the lowest in baseball. But that does not tell the whole story. Almost half of that is dead money, being paid to guys (Stephen Piscotty, Elvis Andrus and others, including old friend Jed Lowrie) who are no longer on the roster. The A's conducted an "everything must go" clearance sale at the trade deadline. The guys who they couldn't trade got released.

Of the 35 guys on their current roster (28 active, 7 IL), they have three arbitration guys - Chad Pinder, Tony Kemp, and Ramon Laureano. They each make between $2M and $3M. The other 32 guys each make under a mill. Think about that for a moment. 32 of their 35 guys are either minimum salary or barely above.

You hate to go into any road series thinking that you need a sweep. That's generally an unrealistic expectation. But if that were ever true, it's now.

I appreciate that but…we need some help from Philly as well.
not “need” if we sweep but dammit, can they just win a couple…

For those who care (and you know who you are), Jarred Kelenic has been recalled by the Mariners.

Diaz has rightfully earned my respect, so I've stopped caring (even if we don't win a ring as mentioned in X number of prior posts). I will never excuse BVW for the Cano thing, but whatever.

If we can hold our own- they most likely have to win both of the xtra 2 games. the absolute key is getting at least 1 in Atlanta

They sweep us and the get the advantage. we win one- and it still becomes ours to win

Excellent result. As long as we can just match what the Braves do in the next three, we're in good shape. And if we can pick up one more...
Bassitt, Scherzer, Jake. Let's sweep these scrubs this weekend. Not make any of their pitchers look like Vida Blue or Catfish Hunter. I'm pretty confident the Braves lose at least one more this weekend.

Catfish Hunter and Rollie Fingers.

the 7 line is out there this weekend ,
Should help the atmosphere be a little less dreadful. A’s were drawing 2500 earlier this year.
7 line usually gets upper deck or corner sections. They have 4 sections behind the dugout for Saturdays 4pm game

Mets Trivia Question : Which Met player ( current or past ) has the most career HR s at Citifield as a Met player ?

Nola vs Odorizzi

bassitt vs a no name LHP 9-11 3.50 era. Vientos and/or Ruf can’t go 0-4.
maybe Ruf in LF with McNeil and Nimmo hurting making Vientos DH

We are doomed. Cole Irvin has never given up a run against the Mets. He threw an inning as a Phillie in 2019. Got Conforto and JD Davis, gave up a hit to McNeil.

This info courtesy of ultimatemets.com.

Seriously, Irvin is decent and you never know how Bassitt will fare facing his old team. But the ML has Mets -225 according to Yahoo sports. Great chance to pick up a win tonight.

That tiebreaker is possibly huge. Win one in ATL and even if the Braves get the other two, they are still not division champs unless they pick up another game on us somewhere else. You know with the Mets out west, there will be some scoreboard watching for the Braves outcome.

BIG game tonight. Cole Irvin is the best the A's have. With a win tonight, and Max/Jake lined up for the weekend, we have an excellent chance for a sweep.
