I mean he's wrong but whatever. Cano's money could have been given to better players the past few years and Kelenic/Dunn had higher value at the time which could have brought back more. Since he's using WAR Kelenic will still end up with a higher WAR than Cano is all said and done and most likely DIaz as well.

The whole business about "winning" a trade is IMO a sham argument. A trade is not a competition. You're not out to beat your trade partner.

There is only one relevant criterion - did the trade help you meet your organizational objectives?

For the Mets, the answer is trending toward no, but still can be turned around. One year left for that to happen.

I don't have strong feelings either way. Glad we have Diaz, even though (like many closers) he has his rocky moments and meltdowns. I don't remember and don't care to know if there was any way they could have made the trade without Cano--btw--is he actually a Padre now? Watch him go all Justin Turner at San Diego.

Here's another take on the trade.

Speaking of trades. Khalil Lee was just demoted THREE LEVELS - from AAA Syracuse to Low A St. Lucie. No bueno.

Diaz throws his glove in the air after getting last out of World Series then there is only one clear cut winner !!!
I’ll take a World Series every second of every day over watching Trout in orange and blue never win a playoff series but win 7 mvps

Someone doesn't read my minor league reports!
I have been reading them and seeing him struggle. It is still unusual to demote a player two levels; especially one who was in the major leagues last season with the team. Mets could have outright released him.

I read them sometimes. Partial credit?

Yes I'll give you that! :)

Three. No offense. Finite amount of time, and it is tough enough keeping up on the active roster. You guys who keep up on the minors are super dedicated!!!
That's why I put them in easy to read messages! Should take you 10 seconds to go through! Fair enough though.

Might be time to slow the roll on Alvarez a bit.
Yes and no. We always knew 2023 was his year. His BA isn't great but still putting up a 112 wrc+ as a 20 year old in AA. Read his catching is improving as well which is just as important.

It is very unusual. There's been something up with him since the beginning of the year. He didn't play the first couple of weeks because of "travel issues" which never made any sense. Plummer looking good though so he'd be the next OF up anyway.

Btw I look forward to your minor league updates. Thank you for doing this.

Do the Mets have an up and coming catcher in the system? Asking for a few other fans.

Thank you! It's probably not the best time to tell you I can't do them until Wednesday next week. Short vaca starting in the morning! I'll still pop up in with any notes for a big game though.

They have another in Hayden Senger, who may be closer to the majors than Alvarez. Senger is a defense-first type who hopefully is an upgrade over Nido.

It is funny as it has seemed that the last couple of games Nido has played, he has factored into a good inning...

Nido is good defensively at least. Wonder if they'll try and make a move for a C but that's doubtful.

OK, I'm sure I'm not the only one who had to look it up:

The hamate bone is one of eight carpal bones that forms part of the wrist joint. The word hamate is derived from the Latin word hamulus which means “a little hook”. It is a wedge-shaped bone with a hook-like process that can be found in the medial side of the wrist. Sometimes it is also called unciform bone.

Trade for Salvador Perez? KC has a hot catching prospect they just called up. Problem is Perez has 4 years left on his contract.
not for nothing- look at the other team, so happy to get rid of Sanchez and how they currently feel about their very productive catchers on offense. Even though they lead the majors in pitching....
